Biography
Early Life
Varik was born as Karin El'Ehierir, to a Mali'Ker couple in 1861. Minutes later, his twin brother, Ocras El'Ehierir was born, shortly after which, their mother passed away. The pair were then raised by their father, during which time they continuously traveled from settlement to settlement, drifting along as beggars. Eventually Karin and Ocras grew old enough to work, and began to do so to support the family's needs, at which point they settled down. Some years later, Karin received a letter from Roland Taranis, inviting him to join the Warband of the Grand Principality of Minitz, which Roland believed he would soon lead.
Military Career
After joining the Minitz Warband, in 1943, Karin was blooded as a Reinmaren and took the name Varik von Minitz. Shortly after his blooding, Varik was given the opportunity to squire under Sir Peter Stroheim, then-Herrenmeister of the Order of Saint Tylos, a knightly order under the Grand Prince of Minitz. During Varik's time as a squire, he would defend Minitz against the savage Frankish tribes, alongside his allies in the Warband, and his brothers in the Order of Saint Tylos. After just under two years of squireship, in 1945, Varik was knighted by Sir Ferdinand Barclay, the Grand Prince of Minitz.
As a knight, he fought to defend the city of Kanunsberg after a Frankish infiltrator managed to open the gates for a larger Frankish force. In that skirmish, he fought alongside his brother, Roland von Wesenburg, the Warchief, and Sir Ferdinand Barclay, the Grand Prince. The fight was as brutal as it was fast, and on the Warchief's order, the Franks were given no quarter, despite their surrender, and slaughtered, as an example to the rest.
In 1948, Sir Peter Stroheim retired from his position as Herrenmeister, leading to an election amongst the Ritters. Varik threw his name into the ring, alongside Sir Stanton Stroheim, the latter of whom ended up winning. However, in 1950, Sir Stanton appointed Varik to become the Kastellan of Westturm, a tower in Minitz's northern fields, after Sir Robert Stroheim's retirement from the position. Not long after becoming Ritter-Kastellan, Varik would find himself on the front lines of the Siege of Breakwater, alongside Roland von Wesenburg and many, many others fighting for the Covenant in the Aevos Coalition War.
Personal Life
Varik was introduced to Aerith Maelstorm by Peter Stroheim during his time as Peter's squire. After two years of courtship, in 1948, the pair were married in a private ceremony. In 1949, the couple's first child, Kaya Sturmweber was born; though, they did adopt a daughter, Karina Sturmweber, during their engagement. Additionally, Varik was a step-father to another of Aerith's adoptive children, Vivien Maelstorm, until the annulment of their marriage in 1966.
In 1945, Varik, alongside Roland, Mariola and Jonas, founded Tribe Sturmweber, in Minitz. Later, Varik, alongside Roland von Sturmweber, would found Sturmweber Company LTD., through which they purvey premium Reinmaren tobacco and other bespoke goods in The Principality of Reinmar, formerly distributed at locations in the Grand Principality of Minitz and the Unified Domain of Vortice.
In 1968, Leon II granted House Sturmweber the Barony of Wesenburg at the first session of Der Heidehof, The Heather Court of Reinmar. Roland and Varik took the surname von Wesenburg to reflect their family's newly bestowed title, to be passed on to their spouses and children.
