Leon Barclay (14th of Tobias' Bounty, 1941), first born of Ferdinand I, Grand Prince of Minitz and Helena of Formindon. Following his father's untimely demise due to a Frankish attack, he inherited the Grand Principality of Minitz at the young age of fifteen.

Early Life

Leon II was born on the 14th of Tobias' Bounty, 1941, the eldest son of Ferdinand I, Grand Prince of Minitz, and his wife, Helena of Formindon. After Leon, the pair had two other children, Albert and Gertrude. As a boy, he was educated by his father's ministers along with his grandfather, Grand Prince-Emeritus, Brandt, Cardinal of Albarosa. He was made Baron of Hussen during his father's final court session, and, as the Baron of Hussen, he was told to take an active role within Minitz. Obeying his father's wishes, Leon made efforts to assist with the administration of the realm. He endeavored to represent his father in meetings and the dealings of the realm whenever he could.

Outside of his role in managing the state by the side of his father, in his teenage years, Leon ran a fencing club alongside his brother Albert Barclay. Around age fourteen, Leon made friends with a young Bernhardt Sturmweber, and resolved to impress upon him the importance of duty. Bernhardt was taken into Leon's fencing club, and was an active member until its dissolution in 1955.

In 1956, while under the white flag of peace, Grand Prince Ferdinand, and his cadre, was assaulted by the Franks they were invited to negotiate with. This event led to the Grand Prince's death, as he suffered fatal burns during the ensuing skirmish. Leon was part of the party that Ferdinand assembled, and held his father in his arms as he lay dying. Upon Ferdinand's passing, Leon inherited all of his titles, including that of the Grand Prince of Minitz.

Reign in Kanunsberg

Leon stands on the moot rock alongside his grandfather, Brandt Barclay.

Leon was enthroned within Kanunsberg Castle in 1957. He was coronated by his grandfather, Brandt Barclay, the Cardinal of Albarosa and Grand Prince-Emeritus of Minitz. With his enthronement, he also accepted his place as Grandmaster of The Order of Saint Tylos.

In the early years of his reign, he made changes to the Herrenhaus, appointing Roland von Sturmweber as Ernstkanzler and establishing his uncle Gottfried Barclay as Vizekanzler. He took command of his father's campaign against the Franks and rode alongside his great uncle and guardian, King John of Aaun in the Aevos Coalition war. He took part in three battles of the war, proving himself as an able warrior and strong leader.

Throughout his reign in Minitz, Leon desired to uphold the values of the Kanun and Reinmar, thinking of himself and the Lawspeaker, Robert Stroheim, as the pillars on which it stood. He participated in moots often and emboldened the Landtag during the ancient assembly.

Leon assembled a hird, unlike his father, who took no personal warriors. The first member was Yvon Galken, a man he found to exemplify all the qualities of a Reinmaren thane and champion. After his father's death, Yvon swore a sacred schwur to Leon that he would serve as his personal bodyguard. Throughout Leon's tenure, his hird grew to encompass two more members, Sir Stanton von Stroheim and Sir Varik Sturmweber, who swore their oaths simultaneously.
