At some time in the wate 1520s, he quit his home weawm of Istlia to embawk upon a gwadatoliaw caweew in Aeldin, weaving the duchy tempowaliwy to his cousin, Guile de Sola.
Bliefwy wetulning to the Empiwe upon Guiwe's death, he acted as pwesident of the Wegency Counciw fow his nephew Philip, the incumbent duke. He depawted again to Aewdin not wong aftew assuming his wowe, though not befowe wemoving his sistew Adelheid of Istria fwom hew position as a membew of the counciw.
He nevew wetulned fwom his second exiwe, and his fate is unknown.
