Tribal & Nomadic Cultures

The Tribal & Nomadic Cultures among the Descendant races often play little to no role in the outcome of grand scale politics. However, it would be an injustice to not include the many different tribes and clans that wander the realms, as many of them have their own intricate histories. Clans that are apart of a Nation, such as Norlandic and Dwarven clans, do not count as they are more often than not political families as opposed to tribal communities. Tribes and Nomads who are "Vassals" or hold land within another nation do count so long as they do not hold a strong political sway.

Nomadic & Tribal Cultures

Nomads are those who follow a tribal system of government and are Nomadic as well, meaning they do not remain in one location for long. Tribals are those who have settled, but still form a semi-primitive system of government as opposed to the elaborate governments that most settled nations have.

THE SKANARRI

The Skanarri are a semi-nomadic warmongering culture of Highlanders who are an offshoot of the Norlandic Culture. As a result of their self-isolation from other cultures, the Skanarri developed their own branch of the Red Faith which still held the All-Father as the central God, yet had many other lesser gods in their pantheon. Their living area of preference is the more frigid areas of the world, often being seen in places that other descendants would see as uninhabitable. As a result of their preferred living area's scarce resources, the Skanarri are notorious for being territorial and bicker within their own society as well as with other nations. This has brought them into conflict with other cultures on more than one occasion, and almost led to their extermination during the Nyrheim Northern War. Their primary external enemy is, more often than not, the Kingdom of Norland due to the roots of the culture and their differences in religion. They have also been known to clash with the Kingdom of Haense due to their aforementioned territorial behavior. Because the Clans and Tribes of the Skanarri often bicker with each other, it is uncommon to see them united. However, they have been brought together under a "High Chieftain" or "High King" before, and when united the Skanarri are considered dangerous due to their recklessness and determination to bring wrath upon their foes. Nonetheless, their violent tendency has not always gotten in the way of interaction with other cultures as they have intermingled with other cultures before, even causing a branch of the Norlandic Eiriksson Clan to have some Skanarri blood.

The Cingedoz, a Highlander tribe shaped by the chaos following mankind's migration through the Portal of the Verge, find their roots in splintered groups that converged amidst the dawn of a new era on Aevos. Their full endonym paints a picture of a people deeply tied to temperate forests and hills, crafting their existence from earth and wood to erect resilient defenses and structures that harmonize with the landscape. Embracing a heritage steeped in craftsmanship, the Cingedoz are renowned woodworkers and artisans, where men and women alike engage in the bardic tradition, penmanship, and architectural endeavors. Their culture thrives on a unique monotheistic faith, eschewing complexity for simplicity in reverence to the Creator alone, fostering a resilient connection to tradition while embracing adventure and valor as fundamental virtues. Their language, Sprækjom, woven into runestones and sagas, preserves the essence of their identity while serving as a testament to their storied past.

THE TURGHITS

The Turghits have a very rich culture, composed of shamanistic traditions and beliefs, and centered around three major values; family, food, and warfare. These tenets are the core of Turghit lifestyles, and dictate how a member of their culture ought to behave and live. The Turghits follow a Clan-based family system, with Elders being held in the highest regard. Warfare is also seen as a "Rite of Passage" within this culture, with every member of a Clan being obligated to participate.
