Mountain Dwarves (Agnarum Dwedmar) were originally from the north mountains of Aegis. They are known to be grand defenders of their cities which are usually found in the mountain ranges of Grand Kingdom of Urguan. They came to be when a number of Urguan's sons chose to leave Kal'Urguan and instead live apart from their cave dwarven kin. Although unlike their underground living brethren, they stand strong on land and defend their cities and villages with strong arms and axes. Although better using an axe in combat and lumberjacking than their dwarven brothers, mountain dwarves are not quite as good miners.

Generally, Mountain Dwarves are adventurous and welcome outsiders of other races. They are usually cheerful with a good sense of humour. They take history and traditions seriously, usually expressed through song, tales and poetry. Often they are more willing to accept change than other Dwarves

Physical Attributes

Unlike most of the races, dwarfs tend to be quite short, often being 4-5ft tall. However, they balance that with their stout figure. Mountain dwarfs are the probably the biggest of dwarf variants, often seeming to feel like tanks with their mass and virtue to battle. And they handle their weight well with every day of physical work, making them feel like tanks in battle. An Orc may swing his club harder and an elf may be swifter, but the amount of pain a dwarf charging at you at full speed will create can only be compared to an Olog fist to the face.

Other Attributes

Much like with other dwarfs, dwarven vocal organs are often having an issue fully expressing in Common tongue, even if that is the only language they know. They are usually unable to fully say the letter -h in words and tend to sound like a person with a scottish accent. It may seem difficult to understand a dwarf at first, but it is just slightly modified Common tongue. Although mountain dwarfs do not understand the way of the stone or trees like the Cave Dwarfs or Forest dwarfs, their skill at nature knowledge is only matched by druids, wood elves or humans that have lived their short lives in mountain ranges. And this is not nature in the same way Forest dwarfs know the way of the common forests. We are talking about the wild nature of the mountains common folk don’t dare to touch when night falls.Yet these dwed are fearless enough to roam these woods once an adventure is afoot.

Aging

Mountain dwarfs develop in the same rate as humans do, but they tend to live up to 900 years more than humans, sometimes even longer than that depending on the dwarf. Before dwarfs live through their first 100 years, they are often reffered to as Beardlings, though this may differ from the achievements of a dwarf in young age or if the dwarf is new to the community (In which case, a dwarf may be 300 years old but he could still be referred to as a beardling by some dwarfs that may be even younger than him) Although they live for centuries, you can’t find a elder dwarf in every corner. Many dwarfs die due to mining accidents or during his work. It is also important to note that after 600 years, a dwarf may start feeling weak under the pressure of his years, making him less capable with physical work. This of course, does not weaken his mind, but rather makes it sharper.

Curses

Template:quote

Ibless had not only cursed sons of Urguan by turning them into a short, stout, and an ugly race, but has also enchanced their greed, which has costed them many precious lives and relics. Luckily, the Creator has blessed the dwed with a strong heart, and a sturdy body, and a sharp mind.

Culture

Mountain dwarfs are most commonly subjects to the Grand King of Urguan, and follow his lead in life and battle. In fact, many kings in the past were mountain dwarfs, so it is not hard to understand the alliance between Kingdom of Urguan and mountain dwarf kin.

For more info about the the inner structure of dwarven politics, please refer to the page about the Grand Kingdom of Urguan

Other important aspect of dwarven life, especially between mountain dwarfs, are the clans. A dwarf may backstab you to satisfy his greed or even start a war due to his stone hard honor, but he is not a real dwarf if he doesn’t honor his family, and clans are the solemn proof of that. Unless his honor is tested by the clans injustice, a dwarf will follow his clansmen into glory and death.

Some clans that have mountain dwarf blood in them are: Frostbeard, Grandaxe and Ireheart
