Sibyl Gwenyth Novellen, regally known as Sybille I, was the third born child of King Adrian I and Andromeda of Ba'as. Coming to take the throne of Balian after the death of her older sister and her brother stepping aside, she ruled over a prolonged period of development for the Southern Kingdom of humanity.

History

Born in the year 59 B.A as Sibyl Gwenyth Novellen, Countess of Senna, the very earliest years of the young Princess's life were spent in the underdark as the denziens of Almaris made their way to the new land of Aevos. Her formative years saw her making many a friend in the Kingdoms of Man and following her sister's exploits and adventures, though very little of note occured during those early years, for it was for the most part a very calm period of her life and history in genral.

During her early teen years, Sybille's older sister would pass away in a tragic accident, leaving Alexander, Sybille's twin brother as the heir of the Kingdom. For months the young girl would mourn her beloved sister as a recluse in her room. As she grew she garnered some particularly strong friendships, including one with Ezren Kervallen, a noble of Balian, whom had prior acted more as a bully to her in their youth. Soon after her eighteenth nameday, Ezren would ask permission to court the Princess and some years later to marry her.

At the age of twenty three, Sybille would come to learn that her brother had stepped aside from his role as heir to the Kingdom and after a short period of discussion with her father, Sybille would emerge as the new Princess of Monterosa and heir to the Kingdom of Balian. Soon after her investiture for such, she would bear pregnancy to her own heir... an event that would soon come to be infamous as a cataclysmic beginning to a long period of war.

On a fateful day, the nine months pregnant heir would be kidnapped, alongside an unarmed woman and three children, by the Ferrymen bandit group. Having been rode back to their keep in Veletz, the ferrymen would begin to berate and insult the group for Balian's cultural heritage found in the Holy Orenian Empire. Sybille would find herself negotiating the release of those who had been kidnapped with her, leaving herself alone. Several thousands of Canondom's armies and the Pontiff himself would arrive at the keep demanding the woman's safe return, however such would fall on deaf ears. The heiress would be dangled from the keep by an orcish brute in a manner to scare herself and those who came to rescue her. Despite such she would be released the next morning unharmed.

Due to the Veletzian government refusing to work with the Church on the event, they were excommunicated and a war began to be plotted by the Balianese government. However a few months later, the Stassionites and Veletzians assasinated King Edmund of Aaun before a planned meeting to call for peace against the brewing war. Said murder caused an all out war with the Covenant being founded by Balian, Haense, Hyspia, Urguan and Petra, though later joined by Aaun, Norland and Numendil against the League of Veletz, Stassion and the Iron Horde.

The first two offensives of the Covenant Forces were successes, however due to planning errors the third offensive was failed. On the backfoot, Balian soon found itself on the backfoot, facing an invasion of it's own lands. At the worst possible time, Sybille's father, King of Balian, would pass away leaving Sybille to take over in the midst of the invasion. Her Coronation would go down in history as 'The Red Coronation' as it was attaked by their enemies. Sybille would gain the moniker 'The Queen who Fled' from the battle as she rushed the three clergymen, including the Pontiff, to safety.

Despite this event, Sybille would hold true and ensure that her people were confident and prepared for the battle ahead despite what was facing them. Such proved valuable, as upon the day od the battle the Covenant took a decisive victory, causing the battlte to be known has Hippo's Gorge, due to Balianese native beasts eating the corpses of the League's soldiers. Sybille would however spend a short stint in Veletzian captivity, causing her the loss of an arm though such was quickly repaired throught the Kingdom's Alchemical geniuses.

The following operation saw Stassion be wiped out, allowing Balian to reclaim hereditary titles from the Holy Orenian Empire such as that of Princess of Providence and Duchess of Helena. As the war continued on, it became apparent that the singular major battle victory that the League achieved would be the only one they could manage, and as such Sir Gaspard fled his own nation, allowing for Markus Sarkozic to take over. After a final Major battle he would meet with the Covenant leaders to espouse peace, a sentiment that was soon echoed as the Proclamation of Winburgh saw the war end and the League of Veletz dissolved.

After a failed rebellion attempt by the remnants of Veletz, peace ensued, a calm that hadn't been experienced in over a decade. However as is always the case, peace masks a darker plot brewing. Praying in the Church with her Husband, the two would soon be assaulted by three dragonkin, while Sybille was locked out of the building, Ezren died protecting his wife, calling upon Malchedial for aid, though to little avail.

The years after such event saw Balian reach it's Centennial mark and large scale celebrations taking part. Though for the Queen she was busy negotiating the decades of assaults by the Haelun'orian vassal of Caelia. While Haelun'or tried to pass off such a matter for years, an ultimatum being made saw to the issue soon being resolved with Haelun'or paying five thousand mina out to both Balian and Hyspia, a diplomatic success for the Queen that did not go unseen by any means as the Kingdom soon began constructing further forts to defend their land from.

In the more recent years, the Queen, alongside her Amiratus Kristoff var Ruther, wrote the Covenant of Man constitution which founded a strong military alliance between the nations of Balian, Aaun, Petra and Haense and is yet to grow to other human nations. It is a new stepping stone in both Canon and Human unity across the continent of Aevos. Finally, she passed a series of edicts, seeing the responsibilities and priveliges of being a Peer in the Southern Kingdom grow further, something which has enbaled growth within the Kingdom's populace as new people come to attempt to gain the honour of being a peer of Balian.

Appearance

Sybille I is a woman of both Heartlander and Rhenyari descent, giving her a honey skin tone. Her hair and eyes are indicative of her Novellen Heritage being reddish-brown and grey respectively. Throughout her life she's had a very athletic build, having trained for much of her life to be a warrior, whether she was on the frontlines of a war or not.

Sybille, in her youth and adulthood was something of a staple of Balianese fashion. She would always wear bright dresses with large amount of contrast, often these dresses would be something a little more out of the ordinary and adventurous, inspiring others to take up similar outfit choices and fashion decisions. Though in her late fourties she was seen more commonly wearing a suit of armour due to paranoia beginning to kick in.

She also was fond of her jewellery, seen with a great deal of rings, armbands and bracelets as well as her necklaces and piercings. Something that she would widely popularise in Balian culture would be the septum piercing. Often sporting a great deal of detail for her royal status, these pieces would be almost akin to centrepieces as they completed any outfit the woman war.

Mentality

Sybille I is a woman mostly known for her calm and friendly demeanour, however a deep sense seriousness and more often stalwart attitude during more official matters. She was a hardline warrior, both in combat and negotiation, often beating her opponents through swift strikes, through words or blade.

She did however contain a deeply repressed rage and sadness, when left alone for long periods she would fall in depressive spirals that would effect her mood for some time. In addition, when put under enough pressure or in the heat of battle she would succumb to a consuming rage which would find her often committing acts unbecoming of her station.
