Sir Paul Dmitrievich Montalt, formerly Pavel Dmitrievich of House Ivanovich, was born on 14th of Horen's Triumph, 1859. He was appointed to be the squire of Sir Gustaf de Vilain by Frederick I, King of Oren in the aftermath of the Brothers' War. After the fall of the Kingdom of Oren, he was briefly a corsair in Yong Ping, before immigrating to the Commonwealth of the Petra with his companions Thomas Balamena and Emilio d’Anpalais. Upon being squired to Dame Catherine of Furnstock, he was knighted by Matilda Fredericka Novellen of the Old Regime at the behest of Duke Paul Temesch et Moere. His knightly epithets were dubbed "The Tongue" and "The Unspoken".

History

Born in the waning days of Emperor Philip III's reign, Paul was brought up as the bastard half-elf son of Dima Cato Ivanovich and a Dark Elven sorceress. As a 14-year-old boy, he participated in the Brothers' War as a conscript recruited by Sir Darius of Mardon to the Royal Army. Befriending his cousin Andrezj Barrow, the two fought together for the duration of the war. As Andrezj Barrow slew the disputed Emperor Peter IV during the climactic Battle of New Providence, so too did Paul kill the son of Lord Carrion who fought for the Imperialist faction in the civil war.
