The City of Owynsburg is the current capital of the Commonwealth of Kaedrin and is a bustling city of commerce and politics: housing the Government of the Commonwealth and most Kaedreni corporations. Located in the center of the Human heartlands of Northern Arcas, it sits at the foot of Mont Catherine and is home to Varoche Palace, a vibrant Bazaar and the Bishopric of Ves. It is the successor to the former City of Ves, which was entirely destroyed in a fire. It houses several ethnicities such as the native Rhoswenii, the Carnatians and a small minority of Hanseti.

History

The Commonwealth had quite never recovered from the burning of Ves: losing most of its population due to resettlement and the political chaos that had ensued. Only after its founding in 1756, did the first signs of recovery appear in this young capital city. Shortly after its founding, Kaedrin had ridden itself from 'the mad Duke' Leopold Guy Helvets and welcomed a new generation of political figures that could establish a cohesive order. Archchancellor Simon Basrid had appointed Henry Frederick Helvets as the new Governor-General around the same time that His Holiness James II had entrusted Krisztián Mátyás Károly with the diocese of Ves: these two quickly sought the aid of prominent agrarian Mariana Dubois and the Count of Rochefort Richard Victor Helvets, who were deemed highly diligent and competent. They formed an informal government around the successor to Leopold, Duke Henry Frederick Helvets of Cathalon. Historians deem this the first successor government to Leopold's, although no official declaration of forming this government had existed.

Mariana Dubois, the de facto Minister of Interior, cooperated closely with the architect Albrecht Euler in finishing and expanding Owynsburg. In the meantime, Krisztián and Richard pursued the steady development of Kaedreni statecraft and commerce as the first Kaedreni sought remigration, hearing of the imminent revival of the former Golden Republic. Tragedy would strike however, as Krisztián would be assassinated near Reza. The uncertainty of who would succeed him, as much as the turbulent relationship with Hanseti-Ruska at the time: brought relative danger to the restoration efforts. John Everard Pruvia would then proceed to install his younger brother Laurence August Pruvia as the new Bishop and Cardinal of Ves, who was a staunch Kaedrenophile and a Veszian nostalgist. This led to a continuation of business as usual for the informal Kaedreni government.

Richard and Laurence would go on to re-establish the Kaedreni House of Commons in 1763. On the 9th of Tobias' Bounty 1764, the first convention of the House of Commons was held in Owynsburg. In a close race between Jozséf István Károly and Edmund Bren, the latter won by the grace of one vote. Edmund Bren would proceed to become the first mayor of Owynsburg.

The Municipal Government of Edmund Bren

Mayor Bren enjoyed luck in that his first proposal was ratified before his election in the House of Commons, relating to a project to pave the roads.
