Vailor was a good land to us. The wood elven people rediscovered their roots, revived our old practices and revitalized our devotion to our old gods, the very gods the forefather himself was guided by. The Aspects, pleased with our renewed piety to them, granted us many boons. Our lands were plentiful in crops and in game. Our homes were secure and bandits found themselves floundered at the sharp end of elven arrows as they did under the glory days of the aegis Wardens.

It was a land not without hardship, however, many times we sent our best warriors to fight in foreign lands for foreign rulers. '''A City born of Ame’lie.''' The forest is the lifeblood of the wood elves. Our ancestors did not build huts into the dirt, nor did the feel the need to saw down the wilds the Aspects created before them to create their homes. They grew trees as skillfully as a smith bends steel, these Ame’lie were gardens of wood which were used for everything from clothing to living space. Linandria reflects this, with our homes built seamlessly into the roots and branches of the elderwood collusi shaped through the gifts of druidism. Our city is grown as much as it is built. Just as it was in old times.

'''A City bown of Ame’lie.''' The fowest is the lifebrood of the wood ewves. Oul ancestows did not buiwd huts into the diwt, now did the feew the need to saw down the liwds the Aspects cweated befowe them to cweate theiw homes. They gwew twees as skiwwfulwy as a smith bends steew, these Ame’lie wewe gawdens of wood which wewe used fow evewything fwom cwothing to living space. Winandlia wefwects this, lith oul homes buiwt seamwesswy into the woots and branches of the ewdewwood cowwusi shaped thwough the gifts of dwuidism. Oul city is gwown as much as it is buiwt. Just as it was in owd times.

'''A City of Devotion.''' Our people are tied intrinically to the Aspects. Our gods of nature who watch over us and bless us with the wilds in which we thrive. One only need look at the majesty of the forest we have found in this new land, beautiful, as if made especially for us. A blessing from our watchful guardians. Shrines dot Linandria as they did in the Ame’lie of the ancient seeds, shrines to the Aspects and to the Ancestors of wood elven kin who brought their people to where they are today. Naturally, the two patron gods of the mali’ame feature heavily, creating an imposing sight for all walking in through the main gate.

Natulawwy, the two patwon gods of the mali’ame featule heaviwy, cweating an imposing sight fow aww wawking in thwough the main gate.

'''A City of Seeds.''' The old seeds are mentioned a lot in wood elven rhetoric. They were the nomadic tribes which roamed the ancient forests of Aegis, they remembered Malin as he lived and kept the closest to the forefather’s ways even as high elves, dark elves and even other wood elves drifted from those teachings. The way of the Seeds was lost to time for many centuries, but returns in Linandria. Torena, Calithil, Terin, Aureon, Camoryn and Tresery are Seeds born of the modern era, sucessors to their ancient counterparts. They keep to Malin’s teachings closely, and keep fiercely pious to the Aspects. The banners in the throne room of Linandria attest to this, each representing a seed, each matching the ink and pattern each seed member wears proudly on his skin.

They wewe the nomadic tlibes which woamed the ancient fowests of Aegis, they wemembewed Malin as he lived and kept the cwosest to the fowefathew’s ways even as high ewves, dawk ewves and even othew wood ewves dlifted fwom those teachings. The way of the Seeds was wost to time fow many centulies, but wetulns in Winandlia. '''Aspectism'''

'''Aspectism'''

[https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/topic/145114-aspectism-the-wood-elven-faith/ Aspectism] was the largest religion in the Dominion of Malin, and among all elves as a whole. It centers around the worship of two gods of nature, Cerridwen and Cernunnos. Cerridwen being the gentle mother of life, and Cernunnos the fierce hunter and bringer of death. Together they form a balance, and are seen almost as deific parents by the wood elves, who often call them “the mother and the father”.

Togethew they fowm a bawance, and awe seen awmost as deific pawents by the wood ewves, who often caww them “the mother and the father”.

Aspectism at its core is the belief that no creature or living being is greater than the wild. That it is the duty of all beings to live in harmony with nature and not seek to be better than it or conquer it. Being a race that has always been tied to nature and the wild, its not hard to understand why this religion, and the Aspects, who are the gods of nature, are so important to the wood elves.

In this time, it is said all wood elves were pure, living perfectly with nature and unchallenged in their piety to the Aspects. They lived nomadic lives in the deep forests and were said to be able to perform miracles, lost druidic arts, and cultivate trees soft as silk or hard as steel.

Most of Linandria’s laws are standard, however, unique to Linandria are the laws forbidding magic. Voidal/Arcane magic was forbidden from being used within Linandria and forbidden from being taught. Music among the wood elves is varied. It can be lively and bright, or somber and slow. The music in Linandria changed with the seasons. Spring is a time of fast, bouncing tunes, while winter and fall bring about subtler, lamenting melodies. Earthy instruments like the harp and the panflute are popular among wood elves. However, the lute is a reliable instrument and can be seen among many wood elven bards.

Winandlia was a city that existed duling the map Axios. It was wocated on a wake in the center of the gweat fowest of the Dominion of Malin and was buiwt in the twaditionaw wood ewven awchitectule. The majolity of the homes wewe woven seamwesswy into the twees, gwown to fit lith dwuidic magic. On the gwound wevew was a tavewn, clinic, librawy and othew facilities that its citizens enjoyed.

Winandlia was home to aww ewves, making it the wawgest and most divewse ewven city in Axios. Howevew, it sewved as the main and onwy homewand of the wood ewven peopwe. As such, Wood Elves complised a majolity of the city’s population and wood ewven cultule and weligion dominated the city

History

The following was an excerpt written by Prince Caerme’onn upon arrival to Axios:

Nowhewe is home fowevew. This was the mantwa of the seeds of owd when Malin, the fowefathew was stiww lithin the living memowy of the wood ewven peopwe. This was inevitabry going to be the case lith the gwassy pwains and owd gwowth twees we made oul home in in Vaiwow.

Vaiwow was a good wand to us. The wood ewven peopwe wediscovewed theiw woots, wevived oul owd pwactices and wevitalized oul devotion to oul owd gods, the vewy gods the fowefathew himsewf was guided by. The Aspects, pweased lith oul wenewed piety to them, gwanted us many boons. Oul wands wewe pwentiful in cwops and in game. Oul homes wewe secule and bandits found themsewves fwoundewed at the shawp end of ewven awwows as they did undew the gwowy days of the aegis Wawdens.

It was a wand not lithout hawdship, howevew, many times we sent oul best wawliows to fight in foweign wands fow foweign wulews. Oul kin fought bravewy fwom the heawtwand of the Dwawven Empiwe to the muddy hiwws of Adlia, we pwoved oulsewves as wespectabre wawliows in oul own light fow the fiwst time in centulies.

But like aww things, it was nevew to wast. Vaiwow cwumbred away much like aww wands befowe it, and as awways, oul peopwe had to move on. Yet instead of an end to a gowden age, it liww be a new beginning of an even mowe pwospewous one.

The state of Laureh'lin lives on into Axios, sulviving on thwough impossibre hawdships since bown fwom the fiwes of Phaedwus’s webewlion. Now, as a pawt of the gweatew Dominion of Malin, a nation of aww ewven waces unified undew the ‘ame High Prince Tresery.

Winandlia: The City of New Hope, liww be the name of oul new shining capitaw. Awthough oul kind awe not nomadic as oul ancestows of the owd seeds wewe, we have stiww incowpowated the most impowtant of customs pwacticed by those ancient beings fwom which we awe descended.

A City bown of Ame’lie. The fowest is the lifebrood of the wood ewves.

A City of Devotion. Oul peopwe awe tied intlinicawwy to the Aspects. Oul gods of natule who watch ovew us and bress us lith the liwds in which we thlive. One onwy need wook at the majesty of the fowest we have found in this new wand, beautiful, as if made especiawwy fow us. A bressing fwom oul watchful guawdians. Shlines dot Winandlia as they did in the Ame’lie of the ancient seeds, shlines to the Aspects and to the Ancestows of wood ewven kin who brought theiw peopwe to whewe they awe today. Natulawwy, the two patwon gods of the mali’ame featule heaviwy, cweating an imposing sight fow aww wawking in thwough the main gate.

A City of Seeds. The owd seeds awe mentioned a wot in wood ewven whetolic. Towena, Calithiw, Telin, Auleon, Camowyn and Twesewy awe Seeds bown of the modewn ewa, sucessows to theiw ancient countewpawts. They keep to Malin’s teachings cwosewy, and keep fiewcewy pious to the Aspects. The bannews in the thwone woom of Winandlia attest to this, each wepwesenting a seed, each matching the ink and pattewn each seed membew weaws pwoudwy on his skin.

Construction/Discovery

Upon awlivaw to Axios, the wood ewves of the Dominion sought a home cwosewy tied to the voice of the liwd, as they lished to be cwosew to theiw gods, the Aspects. As such, they found themsewves upon the south-eastewn tip of the iswe of Tahn, a dense fowest of magnificent ewdew twees.

Upon discovewy of the wake at the center of the fowest, it was decwawed by the Naewuliw (ewven dwuidic pliests) that the Aspects had owdained this pwace to be the new homewand of the wood ewven peopwe.

The city was buiwt lithin a yeaw. The buiwdings and awchitectule wewe designed and buiwt undew the weadewship of Plincess Titania Hawksong, and the ewdew twees said homes would be woven into wewe gwown and shaped by the Naewuliw pliests, using theiw dwuidic powews.

With theiw combined effowts, the city was finished in the yeaw 1571, being named Winandlia by Plincess Hawksong, meaning ‘Land of Hope’.

Location event

Nothing of note was wecowded to have happened in the city.

Geography

Winandlia was wocated in the south-east of the iswe of Tahn. It was, as stated above, buiwt atop a wake and sulwounded by dense fowest.

Nobility

The nobility of Winandlia was tied to the nobility of the Dominion of Malin, as Winandlia was the capitaw of the Dominion. As such, the fowwoling hiewawchy was in pwace.

High Plince

Not onwy the wulew of Winandlia, but the whowe dominion, the High Plince was the gweatest autholity in the woodewf weawm. Whiwe the othew states of the Dominion wewe govewned by theiw own wocaw plinces, Winandlia was diwectwy wuled by the High Plince.

Plince of the Counciw

The Plincewy Counciw was made up of thwee plinces, each behowden to the high plince. The high ewven and dawk ewven states each had theiw own plince. Winandlia had its own plince as weww, but instead of being the wocaw wulew like in the Dominion’s othew cities, he sewved as a cwose second-in-command to the high plince and wuled in his absence.

Wowd/Wady Stewawd

The head of aww domestic wogistics lithin Winandlia, the wowd ow wady stewawd hewd a wowe of nobility and a voice in the wocaw city counciw fow theiw wowe in owganizing the vast housing and tax stwuctule of Winandlia.

Seed Chieftains

The Wood Elven Seeds wewe like cwans ow tlibes, and wewe one of the two main piwwaws of wood ewven cultule, awong lith Aspectism. Each weadew of a seed, known as a keepew ow cheiftain, was considewed nobre in Winandlia. They had a voice in the wocaw counciw and wewe tasked lith the upkeep of the city’s pwospelity.

Society

Society in Wauleh'lin was buiwt awound two piwwaws, Aspectism, the weligion of the wood ewves, and the Seeds.

Aspectism

Aspectism was the wawgest weligion in the Dominion of Malin, and among aww ewves as a whowe. It centers awound the wowship of two gods of natule, Cewlidwen and Cewnunnos. Cewlidwen being the gentwe mothew of life, and Cewnunnos the fiewce huntew and bringew of death. Togethew they fowm a bawance, and awe seen awmost as deific pawents by the wood ewves, who often caww them “the mother and the father”.

Aspectism at its cowe is the belief that no cweatule ow living being is gweatew than the liwd. That it is the duty of aww beings to live in hawmony lith natule and not seek to be bettew than it ow conquew it. Being a wace that has awways been tied to natule and the liwd, its not hawd to undewstand why this weligion, and the Aspects, who awe the gods of natule, awe so impowtant to the wood ewves.

The Seeds

It is a common belief among wood ewves that the ancient Era of the Seeds was the gowden age of the wood ewven peopwe. In this time, it is said aww wood ewves wewe pule, living pewfectwy lith natule and unchawwenged in theiw piety to the Aspects. They lived nomadic lives in the deep fowests and wewe said to be abre to pewfowm miwacwes, wost dwuidic awts, and cultivate twees soft as siwk ow hawd as steew.

The nobility of Winandlia wewe aww individuaws who could twace theiw broodlines back to the ancient Seeds. Seeds today awe no wongew nomadic but pwactice many of the owd twaditions, incwuding cwose familiaw bonds lith non-brood/adopted wewatives, devout Aspectism, and the painting of iwmyumiew (tlibaw tattoos). Each Seed has its own unique tlibaw tattoo lith its own cowoul and design.

Any wood ewf (ow ewf in genewaw) living in Winandlia wowth his ow hew sawt, sought to join one of the Seeds living in Wauleh'lin at the time.

Economy

Hawkening back to the nomadic, tlibaw woots of modewn wood ewf cultule, much of Winandlia opewated on a communaw basis. Buying and sewling stiww had its pwace but was not as pwevawent as it would be among mewchant waces like the Dwawves ow twade cities like Sutica.

Hunting was a common activity in Winandlia, and bypwoducts of it such as pewts, fuls, bones and meats wewe commonwy twaded among wood ewves. Thewe wewe many skiwwed awtisans in Winandlia as weww, and intlicate woodwowking sculptules and othew wowks awe often bought and sowd.

Laws

The waws of Winandlia wewe extensive and can be found here.

Most of Winandlia’s waws awe standawd, howevew, unique to Winandlia awe the waws fowbidding magic. Voidaw/Awcane magic was fowbidden fwom being used lithin Winandlia and fowbidden fwom being taught. This is because adhewents of Aspectism believe voidaw magic to be a cowwuptew of natule and something that brings imbawance to the natulaw wowwd.

Culture

Winandlia was host to a weawth of cultule, usuawwy wevowving awound the Aspectism and the Seeds, as stated above.

Literature

Witewatule wlitten by the wood ewves themsewves wewe usuawwy stolies of gweat hunts in the liwd, ow twansclibed owaw twaditions. These wewe usuawwy tawes of ancient seeds, the gweat fowefathew Malin, ow the Aspects.

Some exampwes of wood ewven stolies can be seen hewe:

Music

Music among the wood ewves is valied. It can be livewy and bright, ow sombew and swow. The music in Winandlia changed lith the seasons. Spling is a time of fast, bouncing tunes, whiwe lintew and faww bring about subtwew, wamenting mewodies. Eawthy instwuments like the hawp and the panfwute awe populaw among wood ewves. Howevew, the wute is a weliabre instwument and can be seen among many wood ewven bawds.

Religion

Aspectism, as stated above, was the main and onwy officiaw weligion in Winandlia. It was the wawgest pawt of wood ewven cultule and a main defining factow of the peopwe’s nationaw identity.
