Early Life
Leon II was born on the 14th of Tobias' Bounty, 1941, the eldest son of Ferdinand I, Grand Prince of Minitz, and his wife, Helena of Formindon. After Leon, the pair had two other children, Albert and Gertrude. As a boy, he was educated by his father's ministers along with his grandfather, Grand Prince-Emeritus, Brandt, Cardinal of Albarosa. He was made Baron of Hussen during his father's final court session, and, as the Baron of Hussen, he was told to take an active role within Minitz. Obeying his father's wishes, Leon made efforts to assist with the administration of the realm. He endeavored to represent his father in meetings and the dealings of the realm whenever he could.
Outside of his role in managing the state by the side of his father, in his teenage years, Leon ran a fencing club alongside his brother Alfred Barclay. Around age fourteen, Leon made friends with a young Bernhardt Sturmweber, and resolved to impress upon him the importance of duty. Bernhardt was taken into Leon's fencing club, and was an active member until its dissolution in 1955.
In 1956, while under the white flag of peace, Ferdinand I, Grand Prince of Minitz, and his cadre, was assaulted by the Franks they were invited to negotiate with. This event led to the Grand Prince's death, as he suffered fatal burns during the ensuing skirmish. Leon was part of the party that Ferdinand assembled, and held his father in his arms as he lay dying. Upon Ferdinand's passing, Leon inherited all of his titles, including that of the Grand Prince of Minitz.
