The House of Montalt was founded upon the conclusion of the nuptials between Sir Paul Ivanovich and Dame Maude Novellen in Valfleur, Petra. Their wedding was celebrated on the fifteenth anniversary of the Astercalia Finalé, the day in which the Orenian Monarchy was overthrown during the Acre Rebellion. Taking up residence in Castle Montalt from which their house derives its name, the couple ended up leaving the mainland and entering exile on a distant island near Yong Ping. Eventually, they returned to the mainland during the Petran Civil War, in which Sir Paul led the war effort as the General of the Petran Loyalist Partisans (PLP). After the victory in the civil war, Sir Paul and Dame Maude retired to a countryside estate, possessing dual citizenship in Adria and Petra.
