The House of Ashford de Aryn more simply referred to as House d'Aryn, is a human noble family, tracing its lineage from the Ashford dynasty. The House was founded by Alexander d'Aryn.

History

The Savoyardic House de Aryn is tightly knit and well structured for its small size. The de Aryn dynasty, unfortunately, lost most of its historical nature. Details and past records of contributions to the Kingdom on behalf of the House were erased upon its rebirth, with only a handful of people alive to this day knowing the full backstory. The only information still known to all is the fact that it shares close ancestry to those from the Isle of Ulmsbottom. While this is the case, in the short span of the new Patriarch's reign, the family and its members have already accomplished much and proven that the choice of separation was a wise one. The Patriarch of the Family, brought the reformed family into the modern era, having overcome great measures from their standing in the House’s infancy.

The Patriarch at the time, Alexander de Aryn, moved the family to the Capital City, Felsen, where they would reside for almost a decade. Alexander became a member of the Band of Esheveurd and served the King Olivier de Savoie, until his unfitting end merely a year later. His eldest child, Thomas, succeeded the Patriarchy and the position in the Kingsguard. Remaining loyal and proving himself progressively more competent than his Father, the de Aryn was praised for his combat before, and during the Dukes War. Serving as a specialized soldier during the war, Thomas fought valiantly for the King and his brethren until the final day, where the battle was finally won. On the cusp of peace, the House de Aryn was dubbed knighted nobility, and granted the land they so deserved; however, before the House could join the ranks of their peers, the Kingsguard retired and eloped with his fiancee to a far off land.

Over two decades passed, and the Veteran Esheveurd finally returned to the land he knew all too well to finish what he started and ensure his name was cemented in Orenian history. Over the past few decades, the house has made its business in acquiring and selling fine silks, fabrics, and dyes, hand-tailored into stunning and prestigious outfits for those to buy. This is where the House accumulated the majority of its wealth, though each male member of the House is prompted to assume high positions in the Realm and to bring in a high income.

The de Aryn House crest is reminiscent of his state in history and existence; pointent and stern. The Winged Lion of the House is present to represent the fierce valor and leadership of each member of the Household, the flames holding a symbol of their vicious attacks against those deemed a threat. The armored outlier represents the tact and skillful measure of the family in the face of danger. This correlates to the family in itself, holding a strong and loyal face at the brunt head of all conflict regardless of wounds or strife the family and members receive. The sharp blades showcase the harshness and sheer power the family can offer in service to the Realm and those who dare oppose. Alike the House colors, the crest appears in a Dark Grey and Cyan blue.

Heirlooms

de Aryn Crest

Acting as the vigil of the house, the de Aryn identifies its family animal with that of a winged dragon and lion hybrid, The reason this is noted as an heirloom is due to the original Crest handcrafted for Calderic I many generations passed. There is a legitimate metallic copy of this Crest and is passed down through each Patriarch as a symbol of strength, goodwill, and kinsmanship. The House pride itself on this possession, and house it in a glass case within their home.

Vade Mecum

Unlike most houses, the de Aryn house follows a set of rules, a compendium of sorts, that details the family's goals, actions, and desires in written form. It lists the rules and guidelines for each Patriarch to follow, along with directives on how each specific member of the House should act. From politics to direct inner family relations, the Vade Mecum covers everything a de Aryn could possibly need to know about being a member of the house. Similar to the Crest, there are only three copies of the compendium. One with the Patriarch, one with the Patriarch's eldest brother, and one with the Patriarch's eldest cousin to ensure transparency and that should one copy be lost, there will always be another.

The Taryian Necklace

The now extinct Taryian house was a family which married into and was absorbed by House de Aryn generations passed. This started with Calderic I, as he married Adelheid Taryian. The Necklace marks the strength of the family, as once the Taryin House was absorbed, the de Aryns simply grew in strength and numbers. The necklace symbolizes this and acts as an heirloom that traces back to the beginning of the House Dynasty. Unlike the other two heirlooms, there are dozens of these Necklaces, as they are worn by each full-blooded member of House de Aryn.
