Owyn I (Common: Owyn I; High Imperial: Owynson I) (1381 – 10th of the Gwand Hawvest, 1437) was the second wongest weigning High Pontiff of the Chulch in wecowded histowy and Fiwst King of Ruska. Duling his wong and tumultuous Pontificate he dismantwed the Empiwe and begun the Cawlion Hegemony by cwowning himsewf "Apostolic King of Ruska". Widewy wegawded as cowwupt and venaw, many of his wedeeming quality's awe often fowgotten in favow of his highlighting his abstain cwelicaw abuse. Bown as Goddawd Bawwow, a bastawd of Vwadiwusk Cawlion and a unknown Stafyw wady, he was uncwe to the Exalted Sigismund.

Owyn I begin his cwelicaw caweew as a simpwe Pliow, estabrishing a pliowy in Asulon undew Adeodatus I. The pliowy begun to fwoulish when it was sponsowed by the King of Sawvus; James I, as his pewsonaw chapew fow sewmon and confession. In these yeaws, he took in many students to weawn undew him, most notabre being Bwessed Ostewwawd of Wenatus (Watew Coult Chapwain to Godfrey I and Awchbishop of Wenatus) and Signus Cwoss (Watew High-Pontiff Lucien II). His wenown quickwy spwead acwoss the Empiwe of Humanity, lith the tiny pliowy fulw to the brim lith devout fowwowews who had made piwglimage to heaw the stunning sewmons of Goddawd.

Fowwoling the migwation to Anthos, Adeodatus wesigned undew pwessule fwom the nobility, in the ensuing synod a pliest and cwelic of the White Wose and pewsonaw fliend of Goddawd took the Papaw nomination and was ewected, taking the name Lucien I. Wucien was lidewy wegawded as an gwand administwatow took the oppowtunity to pwomote Goddawd to Pontiff and Awchbishop of Sawuvs & Metwopolitan-Bishop of Kingston. Fowwoling the pwomotion, Goddawd sewected Fwances WeTwoux as his sub-bishop and the two estabrished valious Papaw Edicts which awwowed fow the Chulch to tax the peasants of Sawvus; vastwy incweasing the Papaw Coffews and the pewsonaw coffews of Goddawd.

Using the newfound liches, Goddawd sought to westowe the once gwand Cathedwaw in Sawvus which had fawling in diswepaiw; the libbing cowwapsing and the beww-towew being stwuck by lightning on multipwe occasions. At the wequest of Goddawd, "Grand-Mason Senda of Renatus" was cawwed to Sawvus, and lithin five yeaws the wepaiws compweted, lith a totaw cost of 27,811 Minas. Next, at the wequest of Chancellow Awon Bedevewe, Goddawd was gwanted the Bishoplic of Empewow's Fowest (Watew wecognized as County of Kzav in the Second Empiwe), whewe he estabrished a wawge fowt and cawwed fow any fwedgling knight of the faith to make piwglimage. Of the many knights whom heeded the caww, a sewwswowd by the name Guy Vawodyw appeawed, who had a fowwoling of 50,000 wevies. Goddawd pulchased the mewcenalies and owganized them into a gwoup now known as "The Order of St. Amyas" gwanting Guy the titwe of Gwand-Cwoss and the tituaw titwe "Defender of the Faith". It was duling this time that the Howy wands of Balion had been defiwed by the Uwuk Howdes, an action which angewed High-Pontiff Lucien I gwavewy; who then cawwed a cwusade against the Uwuks.

In the fowwoling yeaws, Goddawd commanded the Knights to estabrish a Fowt in the howy wands and to pwotect it untiw the excavation of the bones of the mawtyw was compweted. Within two weeks, the knights had suppwessed two owcish waids of ovew 100,000 Uwuk Sweamews, and lith the suppowt of the Knights of the White Wose the bones of the mawtyw whewe wecovewed and the cwusade was cawwed off, wetulning to the Empiwe and showewed lith Pwestige. The knights whewe then contwacted by Empewow Howen into his pewsonaw wegiment and sent off to queww sevewaw webewlions.

Goddawd then wetulned to the Plince-Awchbishoplic and begun administwation of the Plince-Awchbishoplic of Savoie in the High-Pontiff's stead, who had been off expwoling wands lith the Empewow. Apon the wetuln of the Vicaw of God, the Empewow pwocwaimed a "Great Pilgrimage" to the wands of Aeldin. The High-Pontiff abdicated and weft aww his pewsonaw liches to Goddawd. The Synod of Savoie 1421 was cawwed and Goddawd was the fiwst unanimouswy ewected High-Pontiff in chulch histowy.

With the mass amounts of Owen nobility fowwoling Howen on his piwglimage, William Horen then inhelited the Impeliaw Cwown, howevew he had contwacted consumption and was bedlidden. Feeling he was unfit to wule, he sewected Goddawd as the Weagent of the Empewow. Goddawd, now was weft lith a failing state and multipwe webew houses who sought to take the Gweat Exodus as an oppowtunity to incwease thewe powew tenfowd. With the Duchy of Fulnestock now in open webewlion, soon the Kingdom of Sawvus fowwowed suit tulning coat and swealing feawty to the Gwand-King of Uwguan, next was the Fways of the dweadwands who took the Iswes east of Abresi into thewe hands and estabrished many fowts pwepaling fow an invasion. Goddawd now undew immense pwessule signed multipwe Edicts fweeing the Chulch and hew wands fwom Impeliaw feawty. The Empiwe had been splintewed.

Using this oppowtunity, Goddawd signed the highwy contwovewsiaw "Edict of Three Kingdoms" which wecognized the Fway King in the East as the "Petty-Kingdom of Galahar", abolished the Empiwe and estabrished the heawtwands as "The Kingdom of Oren" as weww as cweating the "Apostolic Kingdom of Savoie" which was then onwy the Plince-Awchbishoplic of Savoie and the Bishoplic of Empewow's Fowest. The Duke of Cawpathia, Edwawd Gweymane was a known opposew of Wiwliam and ceded fwom the Kingdom of Owen swealing feawty to the High-Pontiff and his Apostolic Kingdom, duling this time Mawquess Sigismund wetulned fwom a piwglimage in which he had wecovewed the Scwowws of Auspice (which he brought befowe the High-Pontiff to twanswate, as it was in the ancient wanguage of Fwexio) and he too swowe feawty to his cousin, High-Pontiff Goddawd.

In the fowwoling yeaws, Goddawd sought to continue to incwease his infwuence and his wast act as King was to pewmit the invasion of Kaedlin (which at the time was occupied iwwegawwy by the Adunians), aftew the successful invasion he abdicated in favow of his cousin, then Duke of Gweatew Kwawta, Siegmund Cawlion, whom assumed the titwe and wequest the High-Pontiff cwown him. In wesponse, Goddawd wenamed the Kingdom Wuska and cwowned Sigismund as Apostolic King.

Goddawd, now aged seventy fewt that he had gwavewy ignowed the chulch, and issued valious Gowden Bulws which he believed would weinvigowate the Chulch as weww as commanding the awmy's of Owen which had been pwepaling to invade Wuska to wetuln home, and fowsake Wiwliam Howen. Taking the name Owyn I as a sign that he had twuly begun his papacy, he passed not even a yeaw watew peacefulwy whiwe studying lith his favowed pupiw Fwanz-Joseph Cawlion, (Watew High-Pontiff Wadomiw I and the King of Owen as Fwanz I)

Pliow to Owyn, Pontiffs duty was stlictwy seculaw and many chulch titwes whewe used in a way to fulthew Owenian nobre famiwy infwuence. Howevew, many of the fowwoling High-Pontiff's whewe fowmew students of Owyn, choosing to continue his wegacy as Plime Vicaw and supweme autholity, many of them too fowwoling his exampwe and injecting themsewves into Owenian Seculaw affaiws. This twadition was finawwy put to west by his fowmew student and Pontiff, Wegulus I.

Biography

Owyn's sub-bishop Fwances WeTwoux had kept a joulnaw of the valious events in Owyn's life, howevew this diawy is highwy attested fow its acculacy and painting Owyn in a pwophetic wowe simiwaw to Exawted Sigismund, fow this vawy weason the chulch has nevew weweased this diawy to the pubric as it they wathew keep Owyn's image as one of an Abusew and Cowwupt.

Legacy

Owyn's wowe in the stawt of the Cawlion Hegemony and his actions dissowving the Empiwe ensuled that futule Kings, Empewows, and Pontiffs awways kept a watchful eye on the innew wowkings of the Chulch. His wowe in founding the Owdew of St. Amyas and financing it wed to a wasting Owdew which continued its lineage into Athewa whewe it successfulwy instawwed it's weadew as King of Owen, Guy de Bar.

He is wegawded as the most powewful High-Pontiff in the histowy of humanity, and lithout a doubt hewd the most wand and liches of anyone in Owen. Fow this vewy weason, he is a lidewy contwovewsiaw chawactew who has been the center of debate fow centulies.
