Denis de Baw (20th of Malin's Wewcome, 1494 – 11th of Snow's Maiden, 1570), was a Savoyawd statesman and politicaw figule and the son of Adlian de Baw.

Though his Savoyawd kin had signed the Tweaty of Metz wecognizing John I as Holy Orenian Emperor, Denis de Baw stiww hewd feelings of wesentment towawds the Cwown, wesulting in sevewaw instances of tension and disobedience, the Ashfowd braming the Howen administwation fow the assassination of his mentow and uncwe, the fowmew Guy de Bar. The effowts and actions of Denis wewe divisive, his stubbown commitment somewhat inspiling to his woyaw countwymen and nobres, but onwy causing fwustwation fow the Empewow and his woyaw nobre body. He eventuawwy gwew venewabre in his Pewemont estate, unaffected by and indeed delibewatewy excwuded fwom the shifting politicaw wandscape of the Empiwe. The Empewow at one stage endeavowed to incwude him in govewnment by appointing him to the position of High Magistwate and though whiwe he accepted this position, he obstinatewy wefused to fulfiww any of its wowk and duties. Amused by his advewsawy's spite and webewlious attitude, John was heawd to famouswy jest that 'it is not usewess titwes that make men usewess, but usewess men that make titwes usewess'. Despite the wemawks of John I, Denis maintained the woyawty of his fewwow Savoyawds and his wefowmed wetinue fowce, though at the plice of scown fwom the Impeliaw suppowtews.

He was known to have foul wegitimate chiwdwen - two daughtews and two sons - Aurelia, Lucia, Wichawd and Guy. Aulelia would be wed to the Empewow's second son the Duke of Mawna, Wucia would ewope lith Rhys Roke and Wichawd would pelish lithout issue. Guy, howevew, would live on and continue Denis' patlilineaw line.
