Karl Marus, regally known as Karl II of Haense, was the ninth king of Haense from the House of Barbanov.
Reign
At the age of seven, he would inherit his fathers Kingdom after the death of him and his brother he'd be under regency until the age of fourteen. Unlike the way his father's reign started, he would be handed a dying nation due to being exhausted from war and the Great Plague. At the year of 1656, the Czena Confederation officially became defunct as numerous states had left it or were conquered by the ever-growing, Crown of Renatus-Marna. After a few years would pass, he and his Palatine along with the remaining states would reform into an alliance known as the United Southern Alliance which would include non-human and pagan states.
After being unable to reserve such military losses and his coalition suffering numerous defeats in the Atlas Coalition War which would result in the dissolution of the coalition and losing the war. Though Karl was still able to keep the Renatians from fully crossing the Czena River and entering Hansetic territory by creating many dug-out forts along the river for defense. While he commanded much of the military he left the city to be in the hands of his cousin, Palatine Franz of Bihar.
By 1665, Karl had remained in defense, while the city did very little recovery as Franz had maintained his work in suppressing liberal radicals that were popping throughout the city. In the early year of 1666, the palace was stormed by peasants, though luckily beaten off by soldiers under the command of Franz. Karl would later die in that year which would result in a succession crisis due to him not ever being married to produce an heir.
