The Battle of Shadowcastle was the first engagement in what would be the Ithrun War. After the ascension of Sigismund as Emperor of Oren the old Royal house of Tarus declared with the support of House Silverblade and The Grand Kingdom of Urguan war on Oren to try and usurp the throne. The two houses had at first tried to amass support within the Orenian nobility but failed to do so due to their alignment with the dwarves who had years before dismantled the First Empire
Prelude
Battle
The Tarus Rebellion and the Grand Kingdom of Urguan marched together on the Scatternberg and later siege to it. A flanking force of Orenians pressured the northern flank of the armies, causing them to take shelter in the nearby Shadowcastle. A force of Orenians sallied out and with the flanking force breached the waycastle across the bridge of the keep. The rebel armies attempted to breach the Orenian fort with little success, and were forced to destroy the bride between the Shadowcastle and the nearby mountain peaks. The Orenians and the Rebellion exchanged arrow fire across the bridge until eventually the Orenians recovered fallen trees to use as a bridge. The Orenian army charged across the makeshift bridge and made the rebel army retreat to the upper keep. The Orenians prepared to break down the gate to the rebel army but instead were flanked from behind by a contingent of the remaining rebels and dwarves, inflicting many casualties on both sides and leaving only a handful of either side engaged in the fighting, until the rebel armies called a retreat.
Impact
As a result the rebellion was crushed, and the Dwarven Legion routed back to Urguan. This loss effectively isolated the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and lead to the Oren launching an invasion of Urguan.
