Skirmishes, Battles, and Sieges

Timeline

  • 1916
    • Aaunite Forces under the command of Queen Eleanor and Johann Barclay von Minitz assemble an army to assault the Duchy of Adria as a means to quickly put down the growing rebellion. The assembled army of 3,500 United Aaunites clashed with 3,100 Adrian skirmishers at the Battle of Velec and ultimately, Adria proved successful, repelling the offensive army while taking minor casualties.
    • Towards the end of 1916, Adrian forces push out from their capital of Velec and assault the Aaunic Fort Felder. Due to its lack of a standing garrison, Fort Felder is sacked and burned by the Adrians.
  • 1917
    • Through his network of spies, the Adrian Marshal, Joseph Vasile learns of Sigismond Varoches' whereabouts within the Commonwealth of the Petra. Under the command of the Marshal, a small Adrian task force is assembled to capture the former Chancellor. The Adrians prove successful and returned to Velec with Sigismond and his heir, Charles Varoche. Sigismond is publically executed and both belligerents publish sequential missives detailing the event. Due to the Adrian offensive into foreign territory, concerns of the Anathema grow within Petra, eventually leading to an anti-Adrian movement. [1] [2]
    • Following the execution, Milena Sarkozic, the daughter of the Viscount of Sapron, a Balianite peer, returns the body of the former Chancellor to New Vienne. Afterward, she returns to Velec to seek an audience with Heinrik. During their unofficial meeting, Milena stabs herself in the stomach, ending her own life. Unaware of the death, the Viscount of Sapron issues a public missive, seeking out his missing daughter. [3] Through coloration between Aaunic Capital officials and the Balainite Peer, Aaun eventually pins the disappearance and murder of Milena on Adrian Foreign Auxiliary Units. [4] [5]
    • Adrian Forces under the command of Valentin van Aert, Sofya von Draco, and Reinolt von Draco assault the Duchy of Minitz. This leads to the infamous Raid of Neu Brandthof which saw the indiscriminate burning of the Brandthof Moothalle. [6] Many citizens of Aaun are appalled by this action, leading to the Aaunic nobleman, Caius Alstion to call for all Canonist Kingdoms to help arrest Heinrik. [7]
    • The King of Aaun issues the people of Adria terms of peace [8] which, the Duke and his people promptly reject. [9]
    • Adrian and Aaunic forces clash in the plains of Lower Petra near the Minitz borders. After a fierce battle, the Aaunic infantry lines are shattered and victory is claimed by the Adrians.
