Valyn Order of the Dragon
|
The Order of the Dragon is a knightly order and the private militia of the House of Valyn founded by Ser Edric Valyn, during the 84th year of the Second Era. When the Duchy of Redclyf goes to war, they will fight alongside the Red Banner. Honor, duty, and Courage are the key values of the Order. These values are represented by each knight in the Order, and is also intertwined with the laws of the Order.
And no, this has NOTHING to do with that Orenian order.
Hierarchy
The Knight Commander
The Knight Commander is the highest office one can obtain as a knight of the Order. They are handpicked by the Patriarch of the House of Valyn and sworn to follow him. They answer to no one besides the patriarch, and hold principle command over the order. Instead of having the usual tabard of a standard knight of the Order, they have a crimson cloak with a black lion on it, they also have plumes on their helmets which differs them from normal commanders. Additionally, Knight Commanders coming from House Valyn can have different helmets.
Commanders
Commanders are great leaders and fighters. They are chosen by the Knight Commander themself and will take their orders and pass it down to the lower ranks. To differentiate themselves from the lower knights, they have winged helmets. There can only be three commanders at a time.
Knights
The backbone of the order, they are squires that have been knighted by the Knight Commander or a commander for a great feat. They have earned their tabard and the plate of the Order. Knights can also be chosen by their commander or the knight commander to carry the banner of the Order in times of war, it is a great honor to carry the banner.
Squires
The lowest rank in the order, they have yet to prove themselves to the knight they are under. They are new recruits and are trained by their knights.
Oath
The squires of the Order shall take the oath when they are knighted by the Knight Commander or a commander. The oath binds them to the order, and oathbreakers are looked down upon.
