The Summit of Karosgrad, held Horen's Calling, 1898 (Imperial Standard Time) or Wzuvar ag Byvca, 451 (Since Exalted Sigismund), was a public conference that took place in the palace of Karosgrad between the sovereigns of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, the Commonwealth of the Petra, the Kingdom of Balian, and the United Kingdom of Aaun, with the inclusion of other prominent figures, to negotiate a peace between the Tripartite and the United Kingdom of Aaun. The aim of the summit was to shape a peace that addressed the political and safety concerns of the Tripartite.

Background

The Tripartite first expressed their grievances in a joint letter titled 'A Final Offer' that listed key points explaining how the United Kingdom of Aaun contributed to an ongoing tension in the Heartlands region following the Congress of Atrus. In their attempts to shine light on Aaun's misdeeds, they cited: Aaun walking out of the congress - a summit intended to settle the dispute between Acre and Aaun; a Cherskavite - a vassal of Aaun - attack on a Haeseni knight; an alleged attempt to sow dissent between King John of Balian and his son Crown Prince Alexandros; an alleged attempt to intimidate and disturb the peace within Petra's borders; reports that alleged that Aaun was planning an invasion on Petra; an Aaunic lord holding an allegedly rigged dumpalooza (an election to decide the holder of the Duchy of Adria) for political power when the Tripartite wished for the title of Adria to go unused; and entitling Peter Leopold - secondborn of Edmund Ledicort - as Viscount of Azor and recognising Peter as patriarch of d'Azor was an alleged attempt to slander the Petran Countess of Azor Mariana Antoinette - firstborn of Edmund. The Tripartite expressed that their intention was to create a lasting status quo by addressing the border dispute through war unless if Charles, King of Aaun, sought peace. Soon after, the summit would be arranged to take place in Karosgrad before any military conflict could take place.

Topics of the Summit

The topics discussed at the summit generally followed the points listed in the joint letter, though not all were included. The topics were orderly presented, and a new topic was brought up after the conclusion of the previous topic though some topics were discussed at greater lengths than others.

Assassination Attempt

During the proceedings, Baron Sveneld Ivanovich attempted to assassinate King Karl III of Hanseti-Ruska when Karl's great aunt, Cardinal Katerina Jorenus, stepped in front of the blade and took the attack to her face, before being cut down from behind by King Charles Alstion of the Kingdom of Aaun. Afterwards, the Aaunic Ivanovich bannermen were taken outside and then executed by the Brotherhood of St. Karl, Hanseti-Ruska's military.
