Holy Ser Miguel Cortes was the Count of Entusia and Commandant of the Holy Sepulchers (died 1557, of old age). He was the cousin, trusted advisor, and close friend of Lucien III. The young Miguel showed great talent in the art of combat and war at an early age, vastly differing from his family's mercantile mindset. Following his father's burning at the hands of the Prince Redino of Couentre, Miguel took refuge under the care of his uncle-by-marriage, Rafael and fled the isle of Cordobe to Vailor along with the canonist de Cordobes. Upon their arrival to Balain, Miguel was appointed by the Pontiff Everard II to the position of Inquisitor-General (at the advice of the Bishop Rafael). For his service in tracking down the rogue-nun Lorina Carrion, Miguel was granted Holy Knighthood. He would serve under Everard's predessecor with zeal, offering his cousin Fernando, now Lucien III, advice on military matters and aiding in the management of his growing Faith Militant. In the wake of his cousin's death in the Eighteen Years' War at the Battle of Marnadal, Miguel was dismissed by Tobias I. retired in an estate on his property of Entusia.
