Skelts resemble huge insects having long and thin multi-jointed legs. Unusually for a creature of their size they can compress themselves and fit in tight or small spaces. Their hard and rigged bodies, like a crustacean, are split into three main segments where gaps in their armor appear but at odd angles and typically have barnacles encasing large portions of their shells. A most notable feature of these overgrown monsters rests on their horrific faces where a long and narrow, serrated bony tube protrudes out wards. They insert this 'tube' into their prey in order to suck its blood. Humans are a rare attack for these but if one were to wander to close to a cave or den it wouldn't hesitate to attack.

They live close to water, often in caves, and emerge only to feed.

Creation/Origin

The origin of the Skelt is unknown, although it appears to be an organic creature.

Behavior

Skelts are fairly territorial, and often situate themselves in a certain crevice within a cave system where they can snatch passing rodents, bats, or other small creatures. These small creatures seldom pass through the territory of the Skelt, however, so that is why they are often prompted to leave their caves. Living near water allows the Skelt to easily catch fish, crustaceans, or other marine life and quickly return to its crevice.

Abilities

The Skelt is able to sustain itself with blood alone, using its long serrated bone tube located on the head.

Weaknesses

No adventurers have reported special weaknesses of the Skelt, yet.
