During night I’ve been studying the shambling bone constructs and I’ve come to find that uncommon to natural belief that not all of these undead are risen archers. One night as I awoke to a wicked screech from my campsite I was abruptly greets with one of the screeching monstrosities as it swung wildly with a rust corroded longsword. To all of those embarking on camping trips or any night time walks I implore you to tread carefully for now you must not only watch out for arrows but sword tips. Another fear of mine is that the skeleton unlike it’s arisen zombie companion has been gifted with actual thought! These creatures only attack those who are considered amongst the living, not only have I witnessed ambushes by the creatures but they coordinate their strikes accordingly when grouped. This is a worrying tactic which leads me to believe that necromancers are once again amongst the living. When it comes to defense and advice of all things that lurk in the dark, attend a Monster lore class given by I Retlin Orman in the WIZ university. -Journal entry 03: My Concerns of Skeletons written by Retlin Orman

Origin

In Aegis, Skeletons were frequently used by the Undead in their fights against Aegeans. Necromancers were also known to raise skeletons. In Asulon and Anthos, the reasons for the continued existence of skeletons is under constant debate, as their origins were no longer clear. They continue to be among the most common of undead creatures that roam the lands. In Anthos the Dark Lord of the North, Setherien, used Skeletons of a far more deadly variety. There have been many that tried to figure out how these creatures came to gain life once more.

Skeletons may be reanimations from necromancers on some rare cases, but most of them are simply corpses which seemed to gain life once more. While the information is unknown to the people of the realms, it is due to the magic of the monks, a side effect of their resuraction of descendants. A new body is created, and the dead one may gain undead life once more.

Characteristics

Skeletons are corpses of which the meat has all but rotten off. Their lighter weight makes them faster than zombies, but also weaker. Remaining bits of rotten flesh are sometimes found still in them, inside the eye socket, behind ribs and even inside their mouths. Sometimes they carry some old possesions of their former living selves. Some even still have armor and weapons, which held for longer than their own flesh.

Behavior

Skeletons move without purpose, but they are seemed to be drawn to attack descendants and evn try to eat some corpses. They respond to attacks from anything, even from their own kind, even if accidental. The only descendants that the skeletons might not attack are necromancers, but only when this one feeds them with lifeforce, and even controlling them.

Types (If applicable)

  • Necromatic Skeletons - Skeletons raised by necromancers, they follow the will of their maker.
  • Ordinary Skeletons - These are found everywhere in the wilds, normally near cemetaries and battlegrounds.
  • Withered Skeletons - Used by Setherien in Anthos, these were previous descendants corrupted by the Drakaar.

Weaknesses

Holy magic works very well against skeletons, and gold as well. They are quite an easy creature to defeat, a blow with any weapon, and even with a fist, being able to inflict great damage. There are only problems when they come in mass.

Mechanics

Skeletons are represented by the Minecraft mob of the same name.

Redlines

Skeletons have no mind of their own, and they lose all previous memories of life.
