Puritarianism (pronounced pure-it-ar-e-an-iz-em) is a religion based around the belief of Aeriel as a male god, and the only god. It believes that Aeriel is a figure of purity, whereas Iblees is a figure of corruption, however it also believes that they are both the same, just in different forms. The religion does not believe in other Aenguls or Daemons, instead declaring them as simple forms that Aeriel and Iblees take.

The first scriptures found regarding Puritarianism were found in the last few years of Aegis, and were sadly lost. Most of the followers of Puritarianism have either passed away, or lost faith in the religion's teachings. Some however, do still follow the religion as if it was law.

History

Little is known regarding the history of Puritarianism, however what is known is rather detailed.

The Foundations and First Teacher

The first found piece of evidence regarding Puritarianism was dated 1310. It was written by an unnamed Prophet, originally believed to have come from Al'Khazar however this information was deemed invalid, after the tomb of an Elf was discovered, containing more studies on the religion. The tomb contained numerous documents that concerned the early days of the religion, as well as lists of those who led in it's teachings.

Whilst the name of the first Prophet is unknown, it is known that he did in fact come from the Elven Woodlands, however was not an Elf, but indeed a Human. Born unto the forests as a bastard son to a exiled mother, he is known to have fled from his home during his teenage years, seeking refuge inside the great forest. There he grew up, living wild, however staying very much civilised. During this time he wrote in a journal (one that is long lost) - using a tongue that most are unable to read, taught to him by his mother from a young age.

His journal documents one rather peculiar day in his life. The date, again, is unknown, however it is roughly estimated that he was in his early twenties when the event occurred. The journal dictates that whilst on his usual trek through the dense woodland he noticed - in the distance - a strange, shimmering light. He approached it, cautiously, and found it to be the slightly transparent figure of a man. His hair was a bright golden colour - flowing down his body, his eyes a piercing blue, and his robes of the brightest white.

The figure spoke to him of how he was Aeriel, and of how he had made himself present to the Prophet because he was one of the few not corrupted by the false image believed by most, that Aeriel was a simple Aengul. The figure instructed the Prophet that he must try and spread the true word, and ensure that the people of Aegis would not continue to believe in such falsities - and also told, that if he failed in his task, Aegis would see it's final days, and it's people would be forced to flee. He told the Prophet that the only way for Aegis - and it's people - to be saved, was if they all believed in the Truth - and that if they did not, they were simply empowering Iblees, and aiding him to destroy their world.
