Nicolas Time in politics and administion would start during the last years in Almaris were he got himself the job as head Diplomat of Petra at the very young age of 20. Arriving in Axios he would get on the job right away creating new ties with the neighbours of the commonwhealth.

During his first Years as Vice-Chancellor Nicolas would put most of his effort and time in surveying the current political and administrative structures of the realm. He would undertaking several years of voyages throughout the realm meeting all of the Houses to discuss their needs, issues and grievances. The main points of contention he found were that the Houses of the realm lacked any representation and were also frustrated a the inactivity at the time of the Knights of the round table, leading to a dysfunctional legislature in the commonwealth at the time. This lead Nicolas to Champion a grand reform of the legislative body in the commonwealth and giving the Houses adequate representation as they contribute greatly to the rebuilding and establishing of the commonwealth in Axios.

These reforms would need to wait though as more pressing administrative matters most particularly in the Capital city had to be taken care of, with several elections needing to be run and a Housing crises to be solved. It would only be in 1936 with Nicolas Ascension as new Chancellor of the Petra that he could start pushing once more for his most important project the legislative reforms.

Right away Nicolas started writing on a new Legislative body naming it the Garmont Assembly. It was a very difficult process with much initial push back but the reforms were written and pushed through in 1937 and were greeted with great enthusiasm. These Reforms ended up being a great success and were the first step for a new strong Legislative Assembly. Although Nicolas had to compromise on several topics like the Chancellor still being appointed by the monarch rather than being elected by the Garmont Assembly, but he knew that these reforms would come in later and purposely left the option open for the assembly to be able to reform itself. Still Nicolas was proud of the hard work he and his fellow Councillors had done.

Unfortunately the rejoicing would not last too long as the year 1938 Proved to be a difficult year due to disputes between Houses of the realm which nearly erupted in a conflict. At its height Nicolas together with over half of the river council resigned their positions in protest to put pressure on their monarch to end the conflict. Thankfully it was resolved and a conflict was avoided.

The Remaining years of Nicolas´s tenure as Chancellor would remain more peaceful, concentrating on more daily administrative matters and construction projects in the realm, one of his last projects would be the construction of the The Monastery of St. Juli’el of Paradisus just outside the Capital city.

Finally in 1941 Nicolas would Resign his position of Chancellor, feeling exhausted and wanting to spend more time with his family and helping out his eldest son who had become very ill with smallpox.
