Necromancy may be considered one of the more fabled and unknown magics of the realm, seeing as its users not only seek solitude with their like-minded individuals, but also keep their secrets to themselves. The mention of one brought to the ears of many of the races bring forth images of evil, perhaps even twisted abominations made by their hand. To many seen as one of the most hated due to their assaults and association with the Undead, many despise the users entirely... should they know they are users in the first place. Draining all living things of their life-force, they find themselves entitled to use it for their own experimentation, and creation.

Tales of Necromancers

Necromancy, the fabled magic of the dead, a fell and dreaded magic that is only spoken of in dimmed corners of taverns heaving under flickering torch light. Throughout history it has be the centre point of conjecture, for many a speculating scholer have met his or her demise to false information when practiced in the field, whether that is the work of a third party or that of the individual is largely unknown.

What we do know are the following, necromancy is the art of raising and commanding the dead, to heave entire graveyards to your will, it is an enticing proposition that too many fall to temptation, it is also believed that there exists a guild of Necromancers, working their heavenous arts in secret, influencing current events from the shadows.

It is the strong believe that said group has a monopoly upon the art, one may not enter the damnable art without their approval, not for lack of trying, grasping only a fraction of the knowledge the individual tries, often meeting in gruesome ends.

Tools of the Necromancer

As all know too well Necromancer may unleash the fury of the damned and deceased upon the living, but their are things that spawn of the art. What has been dubbed as Ghouls in recents times, are vaguely sentient undead creatures, these things exist to feed upon the living in some kind of orgy of flesh and blood, only ending in the smacking lips of the hungry Ghoul as they carve the last bits of flesh from the bones of their victims.

Some have even described and seen self proclaimed immortal gods of death, these things vary from vaguely humanoid cloaked spectors to haunting skeletal mages, these days are dark and too often we fight a losing battle.

The Effects and Uses of Necromancy

Necromancy has many uses and a variety of different spells at it's disposal. From the typical drain of life, to the creation of the sickly taint, a Necromancer is a dangerous enemy, with very few friends.

One of the most known spells at the Necromancer's disposal is that of draining life of its very livelihood. The product known as life-force is torn from the being, and essentially put into the Necromancer. This allows for more usage of the magic later, as it is their fuel, and runs through each and everything's body to allow them to function. Draining something of life also has an array of effects, depending on the user's experience as well as what is being drained. Of course, draining larger and more powerful beings is more difficult than that of a flower per say. Especially as plant life is the easiest living thing to drain, albeit much more temporary than say a person or animal. A master Necromancer will almost instantly incapacitate the target of a drain, seconds after the tether between the two is formed.

The other most well known power of a Necromancer is that of Reanimation. A Necromancer can fill the body of any dead creature with life once more, controlling it as a puppet master would his puppets. The greater the number of corpses, the less fine control the Necromancer will have over them. For example, a Master of Necromancy can reanimate up to 12 corpses at once. Should the Necromancer reanimate all 12, they will be able to perform general slashes and movements. Though, if the Necromancer reanimates one corpse, it could potentially rival the greatest swordsmen. Reanimating a corpse will drain a lot of life-force, as you are feeding an entirely other corpse.

Necromancers, or groups of them, are able to raise (or become themselves) a variety of stronger, more lasting undead creatures. These are:
