Early Life

Mirtok DeNurem, born Mirtok Halgrim, was a Human Northerner from the rugged wilderness of the Northern forests of Aegis. He entered the world during the initial onset of the Undeads invasion, to parents Gadde and Naomi Halgrim. His childhood was anchored in the small village that would, unbeknownst to its inhabitants, become a symptom of Humanities folly as the Undead grew in strength.

The Halgrim family, known for their resilience and unity, faced the ultimate test when both bandit and eventually Undead forces descended upon their village. The violence and bloodshed was relentless and unforgiving, claiming the lives of Mirtok's mother and most of his siblings. The tragedy of that dark period forced a young Mirtok to contend with grief and survival in equal measure. As the village succumbed to the invasion, Mirtok emerged from the ashes of his former life, venturing into the world alone, carrying the weight of lost kin and a home reduced to ashes.

To subsist, Mirtok adapted to a nomadic existence, offering his services to various traveling merchant companies. His skills and determination earned him his keep, yet the scars of his past kept him at a distance from those he encountered. He even spent a quiet handful of years tilling the soil as a farmer, though the land proved as unyielding as his fortune in that trade.

His path took a fateful turn when he crossed paths with Gaius Marius, a Sergeant adorned in wolf pelts from the esteemed Knights of the Flame. Under Gaius's tutelage, Mirtok found purpose as a member of the Knightly order, though his service was cut short by a devastating Undead assault that razed their stronghold.

In the aftermath, he was forced to flee, fearing all his comrades dead. Though as fate would have it, Mirtok and Gaius's destinies intertwined once in a chance encounter in the nearby forests. Gaius, recognizing Mirtok's valor and potential, extended an invitation to a clandestine assembly in the mountains far from the darkness of the Undead's march — a meeting that would birth the Teutonic Order and its inaugural capital, Nuremberg.

Embracing this new chapter, Mirtok adopted the surname DeNurem, a moniker symbolizing his rebirth and affiliation with the nascent city that rose from the shadow of the mountains. This name change marked the end of Mirtok Halgrim, the village boy of the North, and the rise of Mirtok DeNurem, a man whose destiny would forever be intertwined with the Teutonic Order.
