Maegor Valraenos, regally known as Maegor I, is the founder of the Grand Principality of Aeltarys and the current Grand Prince. Having not been native to Aevos, Maegor is credited with having brought his people from their homeland to join the rest of the descendants in founding a new Aeltarosi state. He presided over the Aeltarosi settlement of both Failor and Aevos, and under his supervision the Island of Dragonclaw was settled with the City of Dragardun becoming Aeltarys' first proper capital city. He also presided over The Great Plague which swept through Aeltarys and devastated it's population. Currently, the Grand Prince is overseeing Aeltarys' gradual recovery from the devastating plague.

Biography

Maegor was born in the year 1910 to Laenor Valraenos and Alandra Valraenos. Very little is known about Maegor's childhood as he was the youngest son of his Father, but he is known to have been given a good education by his Father. Maegor himself was a staunch believer in the Gathering of the Scales, and is often said to pray to his Ancestors and the spirit of Aganor at least thrice a day. Maegor had two older Brothers, but information about them is unknown due to the event known as the Aeltarosi Cataclysm.

The Aeltarosi Cataclysm

The Aeltarosi Cataclysm was the destructive event in which Aeltarys (the landmass) was completely and utterly destroyed. Some say it was a devastating earthquake, others a volcano, and some say it was a combination of multiple natural disasters. What's known is that in just one years time, Aeltarys was rendered completely uninhabitable. Maegor's parents and both brothers were killed early on in the Cataclysm, yet Maegor managed to rally several surviving Aeltarosi into the dockyards and onto ships capable of carrying them away from their ruined homeland. Fifty ships set out from Aeltarys, Three would make it to Failor. A combination of poor weather, the inability to collect supplies while at sea, and several diseases wiped out the majority of the Aeltarosi ships. Maegor was able to avoid this fate by moving from ship to ship whenever he could, though halfway through the voyage Maegor is said to have become terribly sick. Thankfully, Maegor survived and recovered in time for the three surviving ships to land at Failor.

Reign (137 S.A. - Present)

Upon landing in Failor, the Aeltarosi were utterly shocked to find that there were not just more humans who looked different to them, but also other descendant races. Many of the hard-line conservative families under Maegor demanded that the Aeltarosi remain isolated on their strip of land that they had colonized, while many of the more open Aeltarosi wished to go out and meet their fellow descendants. Maegor relented to the latter (Who became known as the Integrationalists) and opened up their temporary settlement to allow communication between the other descendants and the human Aeltarosi. At the same time, Maegor declared the creation of the Grand Principality of Aeltarys, using the name of his Homeland for the new state. He also soon met Arabella of Pavia, a member of the House of Roa. The two began a courtship and Arabella introduced Maegor to her Father, Gregorius Roa, the head of House Roa.

Early foundations

Upon arriving in the new land of Failor, Maegor ordered the construction of a walled encampment known as "Dragonfang", which served as a temporary home for the Aeltarosi until they could lay more permanent roots. Per the urging of the Integrationalists (and the chagrin of the Traditionalists), Maegor opened up Dragonfang to visitors. This allowed Aeltarys to come into contact with a nearby Human Barony which was struggling with a bandit problem. Maegor negotiated with this barony and promised to pledge martial support to help drive off the bandits from the lands in the north of Failor. When the Bandits besieged the neighboring Barony, Maegor took a force of 500 cavalry and smashed the Bandit army from behind whilst the Baronial troops surged out from their fortification to crush the bandits in a hammer-and-anvil. Following the successful battle, the Aeltarosi forces returned to Dragonfang and continued to make plans for their settlement among the descendants. It is then that the descendants, along with the Aeltarosi humans, migrated to the land of Aevos.
