Kingsmoot of 1679
A darkness had fallen over the Dominion. Pure winter sun, so cleansing as it trickled through the gaps in the canopy, did nothing to dispel the shadows that marred the faces of the citizenry. That marred the very trees of Caras Eldar itself. As the Kingly funerary procession marched solemnly through the city, the Lady Regent stood at the forefront. Renn Calithil, with her head held high and silken skirts fluttering in the faint breeze. The wind had not fallen silent, even if the rest of the city had in the wake of Abelas’ death.
Months passed, under the solemn though peaceful reign of Lady Renn - while mourning for the late King Abelas continued, it was clear that a moot must be had, and a ruler chosen. In the throneroom, with its windows glittering like jewels in the sunlight, Malin’s Court convened, and gazed up to the Regent where she stood upon the throne’s dais.
“Before me stand the leaders of our fair Dominion’s most prominent Seeds, Clans, and Houses,” she intoned quietly, though her voice commanded the attention of the room. “I stand as Heir Apparent, the chosen Regent in the wake of King Abelas’ death; may the Aspects preserve him.”
Responding murmurs rippled about the chamber.
“Aureon, Ithelanen, Caerme’onn.” The Lady Regent’s gaze flickered over each representative in turn. “Sylvaeri, Terin, Torena, and Silma.” She paced along the dais, coming to rest directly before the throne with her hands clasped behind her back. “Now is the time to speak the name of a contender, if your noble families have chosen one to put forth.”
And so, the Moot began.
The Moot
The Kingsmoot saw the election of Queen Renn Vaeloryïs as the successor to Elvenking Abelas, who followed the reign of King Kairn Ithelanen. The Seeds of Aureon, Ithelanen, Caerme'onn, Sylvaeri, Terin, Torena, and Silma were called upon to cast their votes to nominate their candidate.
