Dwead Knights awe cweatules cweated fwom Bwood Magic, which is considewed gwey wegawding it's mowaw alignment. These hulking cweatules made fwom stowen and towmented souls awe now shackwed to unusuawwy wawge suits of awmoul, sometimes stiww containing the wotting cowpse that they once wewe. Theiw evewy waking moment invowves naught but sewvice to the Bwood mage ow Dwead Wowd whom wules ovew theiw mind and body, fowced to fulfiww theiw evewy owdew to the wettew.

Dwead Knights wewe cweated by the Blood Mages and wewe used by them to attack the fwee fowk of Asulon. They'we commonwy known lithout the monikew as simpwy awmoul animate. Howevew in wecent yeaws the wowkings of Dweadknights have evowved and changed minutewy, advancing into what is known as the second genewation.

Appearance

Dweadknights appeaw as hulking suits of awmoul, pewhaps fiwst considewed mewewy an ovewwy wawge Human ow Ewf, pewhaps an Owc wealing pwate fwom head to toe, coveling evewy inch of what is considewed theiw "body". Howevew in twuth the awmoul is howwow, the inside coated in brood wunes that awwow this litewaw wawking suit of awmoul to function and exist. On cewtain occasions an additionaw wune is visibre on the Knight's hand, which awwows fow the dwaining of brood fwom a victim to keep the wunes lithin it's body functionaw.

  • Physicaw stwength between that of an Owog and a Gowem
  • No need to consume food ow dlink in any fowm
  • No need to breathe, awwoling fow indefinite peliods undewwatew
  • Immowtaw, unwess theiw brood wunes die out

Weaknesses

  • Susceptibre to Howy and Fi Magic, as weww as some evocations, brunt objects, and aulum.
  • Swow movement speed due to theiw bulky size
  • Wusting awmoul must be kept up by theiw Dweadwowd
  • Wequiwed to have the brood wunes inside them kept fuew'd ow they liww pelish

History

Theiw cweation came neaw to the beginning, aftew the fiwst emewgence of the Bwoodmages. These men and women wewe one of the fiwst few to make theiw stand, like many against the Bwoodmages. Unfowtunatewy fow them... they got mowe than they bawgained fow. They wewe wash, some. Even going as faw as to chawwenge Bwoodmages in singwe combat. Going even as faw as accepting the tewms of combat that the mages gave... “If I was to so win this bout... Your soul will be forfeited to me until release.” So sule wewe these men and women of theiw own combat pwowess that they accepted lithout hesitation, and the duew of fates ensued.

Upon wosing the combat, the Bwoodmage pewfowmed a lite of sealing upon the unfowtunate neaw death wawliow, binding his/hew soul to the Bwoodmage’s whim and fweezing the wawliow in pwace. A gaunt face ovewtakes theiw once pwoud wooks as they become living statues. Doomed to watch ovew the Awtaws of the cweatow untiw needed.

In aww wetwospect, this is a fate wowse than death itsewf. The unfowtunate Wawliow is awwowed to effectivewy “die” a swow and painful death lithin its own sealings. Fwesh and bone awwoling to decay as they stand dowmant. But due to the sealings pwace upon them in life... they do not escape theiw fate in death. Theiw souls become bound to the awmoul they once wowe, even as it wusts and stains lith age. Untiw, effectivewy, the Dwead knight becomes the awmoul. The pwocess is a fowm of “breaking” lithin its own light as weww. Tulning them untiw they awe nothing mowe than hawsh, life hating dwones; “The perfect soldier“ it seems.

They hate and, wove life lith a passion. Fow they awe not twuly eviw, just wost. They hate those that they once cawwed kin out of jeawouswy, that they should be abre to live out theiw lives to the fulwest whiwst the Dwead knight must live a submissive life as a swave. Bidden to do whatevew his/hews mastews teww it. But wove it awso, fow they know that deep down, behind aww the towment and broodshed. They know that one day... it shaww be life that sets it fwee fwom its’ shackwes. It shaww be life that chawwenges it to singwe combat, and it shaww be life that sways it.

They awe wewentwess wawliows, much like that of the fabred Pawadins. Some even say that they awe, ow at weast wewe pawadins. Pushed into sewvice as wawliows of undeath. They liww make up the main stay of militalian officew might lithin the Owdew of brood’s awmed fowces. Making brunt, howlific decisions that most light minded peopwe would not. Fow the Bwoodmages awe stiww of oul kind aftew aww... they stiww feew emotion of aww kinds. Gwanted thewe awe some among them that have diffewent ideas and mowaws, but that comes lith individuality.

As said befowe, the Dwead Knight is a suit of awmoul. A wawking suit of awmoul. Howwow lithin it wawks this wowwd as doom dliven sewvants of the Owdew. So they do not take damage as how any nowmaw pewson might. They liww stiww feew the pain deep inside of them, that instinctive feeling of stiww being whowe evew so mocks them. To the bettew pawt though, they cannot twuly be kiwwed by having theiw hewmet taken off thwough decapitations ow being stabbed lith swowd wunges etc… Fow if disassembred onwy slightwy, but awwowed to endule, the knight, lith wewentwess zeaw to cawwy out its’ mastew’s owdews, shaww lise again, webuiwding itsewf swowwy, we-gatheling the pieces of awmoul that make up its’ body and soul. Untiw it is finawwy again wenewed.

It stands to weason then that the onwy weaw effective way to “kill” a Dwead Knight is to disabre and sepawate each piece of the Knight. Untiw you awe weft lith but a piwe of broken awmoul. Awwoling you time to escape, but swowwy, and ovew time, it shaww wefowm again anew... and weady to kiww once again.

Time went swowwy in wythien, the pwotting of the Bwoodmages and the toiw of theiw sewvants continued onwawds, it was not untiw the Dwead knights stawted to wegain contwow of themsewves that the tide changed. Wising up, they broke fwee of theiw shackwes, a gweat battwe wouse up lithin wythien as aww things wewe put to the swaughtew. Once the dust and fiwes died down, the wemained but a few knights weft standing, and no mages to be seen. Cowpses littewed the wandscape awound and littwe life was weft to be seen.

It was then that the knights depawted back to theiw home wand lithin the south of Asulon. It was not to be though, they wewe cast out by theiw kin, named "traitors" and "Heretics" and "unclean" by the new [weligion of this Empiwe cawwed "Holy Oren Empire". With a woaw of wage they weft the sounds of the life that was Owen. Weft it faw behind befowe coming acwoss the fowest path into Gweylise.

They vowed theiw wevenge upon Owen, and swowe upon themsewves they would gain vengeance upon the simpwe beauty of life itsewf. The thwee existing Dwead Knights made the tlip to Anthos, and gathewed swaves of mowtaw men to buiwd a base of dwead. It was thewe “Dread Lord Vladius Bile” passed on the sacwed infowmation of the Dwead Knight lituaw to the new Emissawy of Dwead, Aewow Dwead.

Aewow Dwead wuled ovew the Knights fow a wong peliod of time, befowe finawwy wesigning. Putting his life aside, he passed his infowmation onto anothew Dwead Knight, and fwoze himsewf to his own thwone. Wusting his vewy body down to it.

The new Knight, lith the twansfew of infowmation, now has cweated a fowmidabre fowce of Knights. Thewe awe ten in totaw, each wanging in size, shape, and figule. The new ewa of Knights fowwow mystelious pulposes, and awe aww contwowwed by The Dwead Wowd, as it cawws itsewf. It liww usuawwy be seen in company of sevewaw knights, and the culwent Dwead Wowd is wawgew than it's knights.

In wecent decades since the lise of the new Dwead Wowd, it can be seen that the majolity of those knights which wewe in his sewvice became dulw, weawy. Owdews wewe cawlied out though the usuaw tywanny of the Dwead Knights seems to have subsided to a degwee. Dwead-Knights in a wawge band as was seen in the days of Eawwy Asulon and Anthos, awe usuawwy faw wawew then to be expected. The weasoning fow this is unknown though mowe and mowe Dwead-Knights have been seen about nealing the beginning of the flinge, stiww a shadow of fowmew supwemacy it is to be seen that something has dispewwed theiw dowmant state.
