History

The Halfling village of Bramblebury was the first village the race settled in the land of Almaris, located in the dense forests of Elvenesse this village was unlike many that they had settled before. However, the race evolved to fit into their new home; building burrows into the giant trees as well as the normal earthen homes that are usual for the race and inventing new ways to farm that would suit the land as it was devoid of the large open spaces the weefolk are accustomed to.

Much happened in the short time the people were there, most notably in the government. When the Halflings first arrived in this land a constitution written by Greta Goodbarrel was put into effect after being approved by then Thain Isalie Gardner. This new system was comprised of a Thain who would be the main leader of the people, a Mayor who would serve as an internal advisor to the Thain as well as overseeing the everyday going ons in the village, and the Sheriff who was in charge of keeping the peace within the village. However, this system was not to last as during the second Mayoral debates where the weefolk were to choose between three candidates for the next mayor a rogue voice floated out, "I like them all, why can't they all be mayor?" This then led to what can only be described as a small mob as the people rose up and decided to revert back to the old Elder system right then and there. The Thain and Mayor positions were essentially done away with and the three candidates were all given the position of Elder to rule over the village as equals.

During all of this a religious showdown was also gearing up to get underway, which started with the arrival of a Halfling who called himself King Cyris. From the moment the lad arrived in the village he preached that the Knox the village followed, and the High Pumplar served, was indeed a false prophet and he himself had talked to the true Knox. The village became split, with many Halflings choosing to either stand by the High Pumplar or to switch allegiances and started following Cyris' preaching's. This reached a boiling point at a Knoxmas celebration within the village when a figure declaring himself to be Knox showed himself at the event which then lead to a vicious battle where King Cyris was almost killed as he tried to fight the figure. However, it was quickly ended when the then Thain showed up and put a stop to it. This event only added fuel to the fire of what would go on to become one of the greatest Halfling debates in recent history.

The Elder system too was not too last, with the system essentially having been made in the spur of the moment during the previous Mayoral debates there was a lack of understanding amongst the elders of what their duties were. The religious and cultural conflicts were simply too much for the Elders to handle while being unsure of what they were actually allowed to do. This lead to clashes amongst the group and the positions crumbled as the village reverted back to a Thainship under the rule of Monkey Peregrin who would go on to lead the village until deciding to move the people to a new village which would be called Honeyhill in the kingdom of Haense. This was done largely to help reunite the Halflings after a splinter village had formed called Knoxville, also in Haense and lead by a mayor named Onelia Peregrin, as the extremist proper Halflings had fled Bramble in an effort to escape what they deemed as the watering down of the culture.

Location

Bramblebury was located in the dense forests of Elvenesse, being found tucked away amongst the trees the village differed in many ways from the open landscapes of previous ones.

Goverment

As mentioned before the village of Bramblebury was a home to a host of new political systems as the Halflings scrambled to find what worked best for them. However, the order went as follows.

  • Thain - Isalie Gardner, who ruled over the village beginnings and signed the constitution into effect.
  • Mayor - Iris Peregrin, the first and last Mayor of Bramblebury.
  • Sheriff - Meemaw Applebottom served as sheriff for the towns beginnings and stayed in office for many years. She was succeeded by Anne 'II' Gardner.
  • Elders - Onelia Peregrin, Kerraline Goodbarrel, and Burt Hassenfort. However, Burt would fall ill early in his eldership and was then replaced with Isalie Gardner. Jordan Applebottom, James Peregrin, and Greta Goodbarrel would then be elected to the positions afterwards.
  • After the Elder system was once again done away with Monkey Peregrin took over as Thain once more, the mayor position was done away with entirely, and Sorrel Peregrin came into the position of Sheriff which she still holds to this day.
