Amaya Milena (Common: Mia Milena) (9th of Malin's Welcome, 1905 - 1969), regally known as Amaya of Venzia and monikered The People's Queen, The Pure, and The White Flame was the 21st Queen-Consort of Hanseti-Ruska through her marriage to Aleksandr II of Haense in 1927. Throughout her reign, the Queen was well-known for her kindness, her cultural influence upon the Haeseni court, and her militaristic prowess during the Aevos Coalition War. Her reign lasted 40 years, making her the longest reigning Queen in Haeseni history.

Early Life (1905-1927)

Amaya Milena Colborn was born to the Viscountess of Venzia, Dame Ada Colborn, and her husband, Lord Izin Kortreivch in the year 1905. When her mother ascended to the role of Surgeon General, the Viscountess had lovingly bestowed unto her youngest daughter the name Amaya to honor St. Amyas of Yore - the patron saint of medicine, healing, and botany, which certainly foreshadowed the girl's future ambitions. Amaya's early years, however, were shrouded in tragedy as her mother would die suddenly in battle. The loss of her mother and the subsequent disappearance of her father placed a significant emotional burden upon the young girl. Consequently, Amaya sought to keep to herself, which would create a barrier that seemed impenetrable to outsiders. For years, she only donned the color black and was often subjected to stares and hushed murmurs of intimidation and distaste from her peers.

As Amaya grew older, the trajectory of her life would change drastically when her cousins, Erik and Carolus Colborn, and her aunt, Elia Colborn-Stafyr, stepped in as her guardians. The trio played a pivotal role in her upbringing, supporting Amaya in the endeavors she pursued while helping her gradually overcome the shadows of her past. Soon, the aspiring student received tutelage from the household servants in an array of subjects, from history to the healing arts, the latter of which she was particularly fond of. In spite of her reserved demeanor, she harbored an adventurous - and similarly fiery spirit that began to blossom under the nurturing care of her relatives.

Remarkably, Amaya exhibited prodigious talents in medicine from a young age. Her journey into the world of healing culminated in a significant milestone at the mere age of fourteen when she secured a role as a physician at the prestigious Hospital of St. Amyas. This early success set her on a path that hinted at a promising future as the next Surgeon General of Hanseti-Ruska. Amaya's proficiency in the field of medicine not only commanded the respect of her fellow physicians but also endeared her to a wide circle of peers within the Kingdom. Despite her success, a lingering trauma stemming from the untimely death of her mother cast a shadow over her interpersonal interactions. This emotional wound compelled Amaya to adopt a defensive demeanor that shielded her vulnerability from those she did not know. This perceptible coldness did not escape the notice of those around her, inevitably fostering a dynamic where distinct rivalries began to form. One such relationship unfolded with the Godunov siblings - Lady Alyona and Lord Anatoliy, the duo who initially found themselves on the opposite side of Amaya's sharp wit. The rivalry, however, evolved over time, and the trio would become close friends after Amaya offered her aid to the injured siblings on numerous occasions. As her career in the hospital continued to flourish, so too did her ability to connect and empathize with those around her, which would come to shape her reign as a beloved Queen of the people - hence her future moniker.

Amaya's compassionate nature would facilitate a multitude of meaningful connections with individuals who would play pivotal roles in her life. Fabian Kortrevich, drawn to her welcoming spirit and genuine curiosity, found in her a kindred soul. The turning point in their friendship came during a significant moment in Amaya's life - a tarot reading where Fabian revealed a symbol of utmost importance: the Empress. This revelation, depicting Amaya's future as a queen, would foreshadow the momentous changes in her life. The weight of this foresight allowed Fabian to become a close confidant and a witness to the destiny that awaited her.

In the later years of her youth, Amaya's life was disrupted by the eruption of various conflicts, namely the Adrian Rebellion and the Mori Invasion, plunging the Kingdom of Haense into the throes of ceaseless warfare. The call of duty echoed loudly in her ears, and without hesitation, she resolved to enlist in the Brotherhood of Saint Karl. Driven by a fervent sense of loyalty to her homeland, she eagerly embraced the rigorous training that awaited her within the Brotherhood. Under the guidance of talented commanders seasoned by the harsh realities of conflict, she immersed herself in the art of warfare. Her training was a crucible that tested her physical prowess and ability to adapt swiftly to the ever-shifting dynamics of the battlefield, and would serve her well in her future tenure as a wartime Queen. Furthermore, she sought to embrace her compassionate nature and specialized as a combat medic, bringing her healing skills to the front lines of battle. It was amidst the chaos of the battlefield that Amaya first encountered Aleksandr, the Grand Prince and heir to the Haeseni throne. As she fought alongside him, tending to his wounds with a skill born from both her medical training and her innate compassion, a unique connection had formed.

Soon, Amaya’s life took a significant turn when King Georg, recognizing the significance of their bond, decided to betroth Amaya to the Prince Aleksandr. The announcement of Amaya's betrothal to Aleksandr, while not entirely surprising to the court, indeed signified a pivotal moment in the kingdom's political landscape due to the unprecedented nature of her background as the first consort from House Colborn. The union, nonetheless, was met with widespread approval, and the reception was overwhelmingly positive, with everyone expressing wholehearted support for Amaya as she prepared to ascend to her newfound role within the court.
