The Siege of Joannesport was a decisive battle during the Second Usurper's War between the invading Oisinite Rozanians against the alliance of Haense and Sedan. The Rozanians under Prince Aleksy Roza had hoped to score an early victory over the Principality of Sedan by bringing a majority of their forces in a surprise attack against the Sedanian capital. Their goal was to either seize the city or Prince Frederick II of Sedan himself in hopes of forcing a surrender or negotiations. Unbeknownst to the Rozanians, the Sedanians had been made aware of the Rozanian movements by their scouts and had alerted their allies within the Kingdom of Haense. Georg I of Haense quickly dispatched his younger Brother, Prince Marius Audemar, to bring aid to Sedan with a rally of 2,200 men.
