The Acre Rebellion, also called the Harvest Revolution, was a large-scale civil war within the Kingdom of Oren. The war began when the Kingdom of Oren issued an edict known as the Resolution of Acre, which commanded the eviction of Acre's leadership and placed a bounty of 3,000 minae on Hannes and Gustaf de Vilain. After several skirmishes were waged between both sides, the Barony of Acre declared its intention to dissolve the Kingdom of Oren.
Major Skirmishes, Battles, and Raids
Timeline
86th year of the Second Age (1882 IC)
- After the Barony of Acre withdraws from the Almaris Coalition War without the consent of the Orenian Crown, Frederick I, King of Oren has a heart attack and enters a coma. Elric Castile is named Regent until Frederick I recovers or until Prince Frederick Aurelian comes of age.
- Lord-Protector Elric calls for a court of the nobles to discuss what to do about Acre's withdrawal from the previous Coalition War; Acre does not attend.
- As a result of the meeting, Lord-Protector Elric issues the Resolution of Acre which places a bounty on Baron Gustaf for 3,000 mina and orders the eviction of the castle. [2]
- With the Resolution being published, Acre mobilizes and arms its citizenry. Several skirmishes take place throughout the Kingdom of Oren, the majority of which end in favor of Acre.
87th year of the Second Age (1883 IC)
- An Acre raid on Grodno occurs, in which several nobles are captured, including the Margrave of Grodno and members of his family, with the Baronet of Rochefort caught on the roads in the aftermath. The Barony of Acre negotiates that, in exchange for the Margrave's release, Grodno will withdraw from the conflict. [3]
- On the same month that Grodno had withdrawn from the war, the Barony of Acre declares its independence from the Kingdom of Oren and begins to march towards Vienne. [4]
- A parley between Sir Gustaf of Acre and Viscount Charles of Rivia in the latter's keep turns violent. Charles attempts to kill Sir Gustaf to end the rebellion early. Instead the Viscount is slain, and instability and loss of leadership for the Viscounty of Rivia leads to Lucius Galbraith taking regency. [5]
- An Acrean army breaks into the throne room of Vienne whilst Frederick I, King of Oren is hosting a court session. The Acreans attack the session and slay both King Frederick and Queen Vivienne in the ensuing Battle of Vienne.
- Sir Gustaf of Acre mysteriously disappears. He is last seen being carried away by numerous Elven maidens, kidnapped whilst farming. His father Hannes de Vilain, the previous Baron, retakes command of Acre and the war effort.
- At the end of the year, the Accord of the Third Harvest is signed by the Barony of Acre, the County of Temesch, the Viscounty of Minitz, and the Barony of Rivia. [6]
- Garmont, seat of the County of Mardon, is burned down and the Princess-Royal goes missing. The nearby Count of Temesch, Paul Salvian, declares regency over the Mardonic territories and demands submission from the local lords to the cause; the Commonwealth of the Petra is born as a result.
88th year of the Second Age (1884 IC)
- the Barony of Artois signs a pact with the Barony of Acre withdrawing from the war. [7]
- A meeting between Elric Castile, the Lord Protector of Oren, and loyalists in Arentania is intercepted by a Harvest Lord army. In order to negotiate the safety of those within, Elric agrees to discuss surrender terms.
- Hannes de Vilain and the Harvest Lord host escort Elric back to Acre, where he signs a peace treaty that ends the war and leaves Acre and the Harvest Lords in control of Oren's fate.
- The Kingdom of Oren is disbanded and its territories divided according to the Accord of the Third Harvest. [8]
- The victors create the Harvest Confederation, a loose network of states encompassing the former Orenian territories.
- A handful of loyalist vassals of the Kingdom of Oren declare the creation of the Commonwealth of Arentania following the end of the civil war. A large commotion occurs as many of those listed within their declaration declare that they did not sign.
