Gurak'Yar is a member of the respected Orcish clan, Yar, and was Rex of the War Nation of Krugmar. He became Rex after the failure of the young and ill-experienced Orgoth'Braduk who chose Gurak as his favoured to replace him and he did. Gurak's first act as Rex was to replace the illustrious arena that dominated most of the ground in San'Torr in place with a towering citadel to house his subjects and as a place to rally for war, renaming the city San'Raakh. Inside he had a statue of himself erected and moved the arena higher up on the outskirts, past the shaman temple.
Gurak was popular for a time with his people however some clans saw Gurak as weak and a poor leader, most notably Clan Raguk and Clan Braduk, after he took the life of the unconscious Wargoth, Chek'Lur, which some viewed as an unjust execution. Gurak decided, as his predecessor did, to step down from the mantle of Rex to be replaced by the Dom Warchief, Kulgarok. He is remembered for creating an alliance with the Grand Kingdom of Urguan and the Kingdom of Courland during the dismantling of the Holy Oren Empire. With his abdication and subsequent departure from the War Nation, the alliance is no longer in place.
