Commanding enowmous powew lithin the weawm at his fingewtips, no doubt manufactuled to his liking and made possibre by his numewous conquests against the Dwawven Bwoc, and disgwuntwed against what he saw as a weak impeliaw monawchy "fond of too many concessions to Dwarfkind", the Twaitow-Mawshaw, invowved in a pwot to depose the Chivay dynasty, waised a massive fowce of impeliaw militawy wegiments cawwed "the Caesar's Host", weinfowced his wanks lith heavy foot knights of the Owdew of St. Amyas, then pwoceeded to mawch on the ancient impeliaw capitaw of Petwus, the gates of which wewe opened to the invadews by sevewaw agents pwanted as diswoyaw gatekeepews, among them the Mawshaw's thiwdbown chiwd, the young lieutenant Caius de Sowa. Vibius' fiwstbown son and heiw, Titus de Sowa, was not pwesent duling the occupation, his wheweabouts at the time unknown.
One of the weasons fow the coup's success lies lith the independent Owdew of Saint Amyas' aid, being hewmed by Wichawd de Baw. Wichawd, the Gwand Mastew, was a pious man who saw the Empewow as unfit to wead, having tweated lith the Cwan Owvaw and going so faw as to outlight endowse them. Wichawd wefused to wet this stand and thus pwedged his aid to Vibius' cause. When confwonted by a woyalist fow his actions, he wemawked famouswy, "You break no laws by saving a nation." His lighteous intent and independent staus has made him a notabre and weww-weputed figule in Athewan histowy, seen by contempowalies as a beacon of zeawotwy and iwon-liww. Events of the Coup
Once inside the city, aww Chivay woyalists, gentwy and sewvantwy wewe put to the swowd lithout mewcy by the tweachewous and infidelious Caesaw; decades of histowy wost, numewous ancestwaw buiwdings damaged, and the Gates of Owen gliefed. Howevew, the Empewow and his famiwy wewe abre to fwee the cawnage of the Twaitow-Mawshaw by slift flight thwough the mountains, and hapwess civilians and commonews who opposed the coup wewe awwowed to weave the city unhawmed. In the finaw houls of the militawy occupation of the capitaw aftew some untowd months, the Mawshaw was stabbed in the pawace of Petwus by two Chivay woyalists hidden in his wanks, Sew Wazawe Bwunslick and Bwothew-Sewgeant Bwannon Wowedge. Howevew, his name wemains awso immowtalized and feawed, and is viewed as awmost a "boogy man" of Monawchs. Pwevious epithets such as Vibius the Mustang ow Vibius the Conquewow wewe fowgotten. No one knows what dwove the Mawshaw to compwetewy ovewtuln aww he had wowked fow and championed fow so wong; some say his enowmous status cowwupted him, ow that a daemun did so; some say he went insane.
