Jan Varonic Kovachev was born to the then King Varon of Akovia and Anne Ruthern as the Akovian king's eldest and only son. His father, known for his cruel hobbies, was well hated among the noble body, which stemmed into dislike for Jan himself at an early age. When his father was deposed by the stewards of Akovia, the [[House of Vanir]], Jan was overlooked for the kingship and the crown instead passed to the nobleman Andrik Vydra (who later would reunite Oren as King Andrew I of Oren). Jan remained in Karovia, the capital of Akovia, till the age of 16, where he joined as a soldier in the Duchy of Savoy.

Biography

Early life

Born on 12th of the Snow's Maiden, 1675 in Gryphon's Roost, Renatus, to Henrik Kovachev and Yuliana of Leuuwenhof. Gryphon's Roost, at the time, a small castle on the eastern river bank from the Capital of Renatus, housed the famous family of Kovachev. Within this castle and the Renatian Capital, Varon spent the majority of his early life. In 1686, when Varon's father, Henrik, in order to transfer House Kovachev back under the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, abdicated his position as Lord of Gryphon's Roost, in favor of his Uncle, Ser Carlovac, Varon joined his father, travelling with him to the Capital of Haense, Markev, to rebuild the ancient and powerful Duchy of Carnatia. Within the several years to come, Henrik rose into the role of Crown-Marshal in Haense. While his father lead the Royal Army, Varon on the other hand, was squired under King Robert I, eventually becoming a Knight and helping the Prince Marius, King Robert's son in establishing the Marian retinue, a Knighthood order within Haense. In 1696, Henrik, now Duke of Carnatia, abdicated again, this time in favor of his firstborn, Varon Kovachev. Varon ascended to the role of Duke immediately after hearing of Henrik's decision, taking his oath to King Robert I within days of the declaration. Simultaneously being named Knight-Paramount of the Kingdom.

Disappearance and Journey to Aeldin

On the 20th of Sun's Smile, 1706. Varon, having packed his belongings in secret the previous night, vanished from the Royal City of Reza, without a trace, travelling to the continent of Aeldin, where he married a Noblewoman native to the land and procured an heir, spending over a decade on the enormous island before finally returning home in 1717.

Returning to Arcas

Having returned back to the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska in the year, 1717, Varon met with the King of Haense, Marius II, in order to have his titles and lands restored under his name. Varon was shocked to discover that the King had seized his family holdings for himself instead of granting them to Henrik's uncle, Ser Carlovac, who was still alive. Varon, after being refused his birthright, took to the Imperial Capital of Helena. Where he consulted with Imperial Advisors and the Empress, Adeline Margaret before finally denouncing his former Kingdom, having been betrayed by the son of the man he had loved like his own father. Varon took up arms with the Emperor of Renatus, Godfrey III in late 1717.
