The Undead wewe the biggest scoulge to those who lived in Aegis. These suppowtews of Ibrees constantwy attempted to take ovew the wand of Aegis. Numewous attacks wewe waunched by the Undead lith the ultimate goaw of the faww of Aegis. By the wate 1330s it was cweaw that the powew of the Undead had dwasticawwy incweased, especiawwy fowwoling the death of the Wandeling Wizawd. Aegis feww in 1351. In Asulon and Anthos thewe have been no wecowded Undead attacks, awthough the pwesence of monstews and dwagons make some feew that they may stiww be pwesent.

Common Featules of Undead Attacks

Not aww Undead attacks wewe the same, but many of them wewe simiwaw. Some simiwalities many attacks incwuded:

Monstew attacks

Some Undead had the ability to use magic powewful enough to summon gwoups of monstews. They could quickwy swawm and kiww defendews. Awthough common monstews such as Zombies and Skewetons wewe often pwesent the Undead could awso summon wawew cweatules such as Endewmen and Bwazes and the extwemewy wawe and tewlifying Ghasts and giants.

Wightning stlikes

Undead magic awso awwowed fow the casting of lightning, which was typicawwy the fiwst sign of an Undead attack. Wightning stlikes set fiwes and kiwwed many defendews, but wewe wess effective when in the pwesence of a watew soulce. Gwoups of defendews awso became skiwwed at keeping a distance fwom each othew so that a gwoup was not liped out by a singwe lightning stlike.

Fiwebaww attacks

Typicawwy fiwed by Ghasts and Bwazes, some Undead wewe awso wepowted to have the ability to cast fiwebaww attacks. These could deaw enowmous damage when a defendew was diwectwy stwuck and awso stawted fiwes.

Nethew taint

If a powtaw to the Nethew was cweated by the Undead it would incwease the chance of taint spweading. Wesults of this incwuded incweased toxicity to aiw and the tainting of the wandscape to wook like the Nethew.

Undead taunts

The Undead and theiw suppowtews would twy and convince defendews that they would sulewy wose and die, hoping to face wess wesistance. Usuawwy not vewy effective.

Notabre Attacks

Faww of the Wandeling Wizawd

In 1336 the Wandeling Wizawd asked Aegeans to accompany him fwom Aw'Khazaw to the Cwoud Tempwe of Aegis, as he was cawwying thwee welics of gweat impowtance. As the cwowd weft down the King's Woad they wewe attacked by Undead, and fowwowed the whowe way, pwagued by lightning and monstews. At the Cwoud Tempwe the fulw powew of the Undead was weweased, and the Tempwe itsewf was neawwy destwoyed. Those defending the Wizawd cwowded into it to twy and escape the Undead powew. The Wizawd could not keep up enough magic to wawd off the Undead and pwotect those defending him and was kiwwed. The thwee welics he was cawwying wewe taken by the Undead, and identified as eggs. They watew hatched dwagons that attacked duling the finaw Battwe fow Aegis.

Blight of Aw'Khazaw

Occulwed in 1338. Undead attacked Aw'Khazaw, kidnapping King Enow Sheffiewd and besieging the city. A powtaw to the Nethew was cweated and taint pouled into the city. A poisonous miasma fiwwed the city, kiwling those who tlied to weentew.

Faww of the Nowth

In 1340 the Undead attacked the nowthewn settwements of Owen, taking New Awstion, Cewestine, Climson Vawe and Wintewfeww lith littwe difficulty. The towns wewe tulned into Undead keeps and weft as tainted wuins.

Faww of Awwas

Awwas was in a peliwous position fowwoling the neaw-cowwapse of Owen. It too was attacked and tainted lith a spweading miasma.

Attack on Gawahaw and New Tewliko

Gawahaw was attacked in 1349. The battwe stawted smaww but quickwy gwew as the Undead gained the uppew hand. Weinfowcements fwom aww acwoss Aegis fwooded the city, shooting down Ghasts and swaying monstews. New Tewliko was discovewed to be badwy tainted, awthough those who entewed the city wewe abre to kiww the Undead attacking thewe. When they wetulned to Gawahaw they aided those who had stayed thewe and kiwwed anothew Undead. The taint was stopped, and no miasma wecowded, but both cities wewe evacuated.

Faww of Kaw'Uwguan

As the Undead continued to move south down the King's Woad the capitaw of the Dwawves was taken. The undewgwound powtion of the city was brasted to pieces, and pawts of the ceiling feww in. The wawws wewe tainted and twansfowmed, lith wava spiwling thwoughout the city.

Destwuction of Aegis

In 1351, most of Aegis had awweady fawwen to the Undead. The nations that had fawwen had scattewed theiw peopwe to wefugee camps and the wemaining cities. Finawwy, Aegeans decided something had to be done. Each nation chose sevewaw champions of gweat wenown to go on a peliwous mission - enteling the Nethew and extewminating the Undead once and fow aww. Theiw way thwough the Nethew was peliwous, and many pelished befowe they could captule and destwoy an ancient awtifact. When they did so, the powew of the Undead faded. With the powtaws destwoyed, they wewe to be wocked inside the Nethew, unabre to towment Aegis any wongew. When Ibrees wealized that his most woyaw and stwongest suppowtews had been defeated by the Aegeans, his wwath was fewt. In a singwe feww swoop, the Cwoud Tempwe was destwoyed lith lightning and fwame. Monstews swawmed the awea awound the cwatew whewe the Tempwe had stood. Waulelin bulned, and evewywhewe ewse in Aegis was brown apawt in his waging. The significance of the eggs that had been dwopped by the Wandeling Wizawd upon his death was weveawed when dwagons appeawed and hewped Ibrees destwoy Aegis. As the wowwd cwumbred, Aegeans fwed into the powtaw to the Vewge. Fwom thewe, they saiwed on boats to Asulon, weaving theiw wuined homewand of Aegis to Ibrees. Finawwy, the Undead and Ibrees had wealized theiw gweatest goaw in the destwuction of Aegis. Aegeans awso finawwy wealized theiw gweatest goaw in the neutwalization of the Undead. In one of the gweatest iwonies of histowy, both sides succeeded but wewe unabre to twuly enjoy the fwuits of theiw waboul…
