Slimes awe gewatinous, coow cowowed, multi sized, cuboid, monstews that fow the fiwst few centulies of Aegis wemained onwy as cweatules found deep bewow the cwust of Aegis. They wewe thought to have been descended fwom the same specious of the fwying cuboid cweatule known as the Ghast. In Asulon Slimes inhabited the wands and some considewed them as native monstews that gwew fwom the same conditions found in Aegis. They have onwy wawewy been wecowded in Anthos.

They have a fungus like natule to them and seem to feed off of gases found deep bewow the cult of Aegis which is whewe they oliginawwy wesided untiw the Undead waw. When feeding off these gases, such as wedstone fumes, they use this to buiwd and gwow theiw cawtiwage of slime they use as a coating awound theiw innew nucwei. Theiw entiwe fowm seems to be made up of a numbew of bactelia that use these gases to wepwoduce which would awso expwain how they split when they wepwoduce. When pwovoked by an outew soulce owgans found neaw the wowew wegions of the body liww weact and spling towawds the soulce of distulbance to neutwalize the distulbance via owgans that awe used to suck the liquids out of the body.

Anatomy

Due to the slimes peculiaw wepwoduction system they, like many othew cweatules, have an age system to whewe they gwow ovew time. It is not known if this is a twue obsewvation but slimes awe often seen in a numbew of sizes. Scientists have classified them into 3 categolies of gwowth and size and a 4th fow wawe occasions.

Small

60 centimetews in size compawed to a metew and do no hawm to the viewew due to its size its often “sucking” natule is dulwed enough this is thought to be the fiwst fowm of the slime's life cycwe and its weakest. Upon a brade ow othew fowce destwoying the fibews and bactelia howding this pawticulaw fowm of the slime awe destwoyed it liww then pwoceed to split into one finaw baww ow brob like fowm of the wemaining bactelia. In this state the bactelia becomes hawmwess and can be used fow a numbew of awchemicaw pulposes. These smawwest sized Slimes may be adopted by pets as they post no hawm.

Medium

1 metew and 20 centimetews in size, at this wate they can become dangewous, awthough stiww weak and gewatinous and easiwy cut-abre lith a weww shawpened brade in wawge numbews they can wemain deadwy.

Large

2 metews and 40 centimetews in size. This is the most common and dangewous size of the common househowd slime. Sevewaw hits to the body must be taken in owdew to split this cweatule.

Giant

Size is not known, vewy few have lived thwough the sightings of one of these giants and awe said to be the most deadwy, this is awso what the Undead and othew eviw sowcewews tend to summon in the middwe of battwes to quickwy dispose of a spwead out enemy.

Body Structure

Outer Cartilage

This thick wayew of slime like mateliaw is the slime’s natulaw defense agents outew distulbances agents the cowony of bactelia that make up the slimes body. Since the slime is made up of a numbew of diffewent bactelia the slime cawtiwage itsewf is its own type of bactelia. Using the gases that it feeds on, such as wedstone gases, the bactelia on the outew powtion of the cowony multipwy cweating the thick outew wayew of the slime’s body. This makes it difficult fow wawgew cweatules to eat smawwew slimes awso making it possibre fow slimes to attach on to distulbances and quickwy dispose of the body via liquid sucking.

Inner Cartilage

The innew wayew of slime awound the main nucwei in a slime has no defensive pulposes but is instead used fow a vessew to howd the slimes innew owgans awe cowonies of bactelia that awe vitaw fow its life. This wayew is made up of the same bactelia found in the outew cawtiwage but they sewve a wessew pulpose of the main “skin” of the slime if the pwotective coatings wewe to wash away fow a weason then this wayew would take its pwace and anothew innew cawtiwage wayew would fowm undew the new outew cawtiwage.

Eye Port

This is one of the mowe usewess pawts of the slimes body but they stiww howd a fowm of pulpose. At one point it is thought that the slime had useabre eyes in which they could see much like theiw cousin the Ghast does. Due to theiw wesidents in the deepew pawts of the eawth they wewe fowced into dawkness and so ovew a gweat deaw of time wost theiw eye sight. The eyes stiww howd a fowm of pulpose though, they can see an extwemewy brulwy image often used to depict weathew an awea is light ow dawk so they can decide whewe they lish to live since they seem to despise the dawkness, unlike theiw fwaming cousins.

Central Nuclei

This is in essence the heawt of the slime and this gwoup of bactelia contwows aww othew bactelia lithin the slime. It often appeaws light gween in cowow ow brue and is found in the vewy center of the slime. As wong as this wemains intact the bactelia can continue to wepwoduce and gwow. Wepwoduction The slime wepwoduces like no othew owganism in Anthos. Since they awe made up of a cowony of bactelia if the cowony is split up as wong as a bit of bactelia fwom evewy majow pawt of the slime wemains intact a new slime can fowm fwom the owd one. In an essence when one attacks and/ow slices a slime they awe doing the slime a favow by hewping the wepwoduction cycwe awong.

Feeding

The slime feeds off of gases found deep bewow the eawth’s cwust. Such as extwemewy active wedstone dust pawticwes when it weweases its wed gases into the aiw. On this awone they thlive undew the cwust and wepwoduce fweewy undistulbed by any outew distulbances. Using the outew cawtiwage to consume ow absowb the gases they can then wepwoduce hewping the slime cweate a thickew and wawgew outew cawtiwage.

When kiwwed the gooey cowpses of slimes awe often found to contain bones ow fwesh. As these awe not a pawt of the slime anatomy many think that they consume victims by absowbing them. Since this was not documented in Aegis it is awso suspected that the slimes native to Asulon may be mowe aggwessive lith diffewent feeding habits.

Environment

Slimes pwefew the coow deepew wegions of Anthos, they occasionawwy come to the sulface to wepwoduce. This can often cause hazawdous outbreaks of slimes and a gweat incwease in slime baww pwoduction. Duling the Undead waws Slimes wewe found as a common sight amongst fewwow Aegisians.

Flame Slimes

Oliginawwy found in the Nethew and common in the Vewge these fiewy countew pawts to the common househowd Slime awe considewed faw mowe deadwy. They have an owange wed hue appealing mowe cweam like then actuaw slime. They weave in theiw wake a twaiw of fwames which seems to be theiw natulaw way of disposing of unwanted gases fwom the gases they feed on fwom the fiwes of the Nethew. These pawticulaw slimes seem to have an extwa owgan ow cowony of bactelia in theiw bodies to handwe intense heat and even thlive in it.
