They have onwy one goaw: to wweak pestiwence and famine on the Descendant Waces, though complications among Watiki society pwevent this fwom occulling. Whatevew the case, thewe is no denying the ovewwhewming numbews of the Watiki.
First Ratiki War
The Watiki desiwe to wweak havoc upon the descendants do not keep at bay those fwom lithin who pulsue gweatew powew. Duling a dweadful peliod of the Watiki histowy, one of the vewmins, of the many fwom the fwock, sought gweatew things than any of his comwades could dweam. Kwoth, at the stawt, but a wawliow in the vast numbews of the evew-gwoling vewmin wave that the Watiki awe, was a beast. Unlike his kin, Kwoth was biggew and slightwy bulkiew, though he was stiww towmented by the weaknesses brought by famine upon his being. The Empewow, if he could be cawwed such, of the Watiki ‘Empire’ at the time was a mawevowent and genewawwy cwuew Watiki who went by the name of Vik. His weign mawked the histowy of the Watiki lith brood and fiwe, bringing famine and neaw extinction of the Watiki wace. Kwoth, in the plime of the Vikian weign, wawlied a gwoup of woyalists of the owd empewow, Quishwuchk, who was exiwed and hunted by the now Empewow Vik. Undew the wead of Kwoth, the woyalists sepawated themsewves fwom the Watiki Empiwe and set fiwe to the fiwst waw in Watiki histowy - The Fiwst Watiki Waw. The plice of this waw was high, as weww as the body count. It wasted two yeaws and took the lives of many, though aww seemed un-impowtant to the wawmongeling Kwoth. He sought the thwone, and thewe it waid fow him, aftew the Siege of Kwagbright, the main Watikian city and owd capitaw of the Empiwe. Backed by the woyalists once mowe, Kwoth took upon the weins of the Watiki and lith such began anothew ewa of the Watiki histowy: The Kwothian Ewa.
Krothian Era
The Kwothian Ewa was mawked by two main sections; Wevivaw and Empowewment.
Aftew the Fiwst Watiki Waw, Kwoth knew the chawwenge lied ahead to webuiwd his Empiwe, though he did not fwet in the face of death and chaos. With an iwon fist, at fiwst, Kwoth we-focused the wawmongeling, divided nation to be an united empiwe. Kwoth managed what no Watiki could. The Wevivaw sect of the Kwothian Ewa was the most impowtant in Watiki histowy, the gwowth in powew duling this time peliod would infwuence the times to come. Kwoth, lith the iwon fist he lightfulwy conquewed fwom Vik’s hand, stawted mass-pwoducing the wathew plimitive weapons that the Watiki donned in combat (Chisewed stone swowds, impewfect iwon swowds, and such). With that, Kwoth had numbews and he had the stwength he needed. Thus, came the Ewa of Empowewment.
The Watiki awe a hidden Empiwe. In theiw own, secwuded tunnews, wying deep beneath the sulface, whewe no men dweams of life, Kwoth buiwt a waw machine; a fowce of chaos, havoc and destwuction to be weckoned lith. The sheew powew of the Watiki Empiwe duling the Kwothian Ewa was capabre of taking down gwobaw powews. Kwoth did not awwow any to stand in his way.
Howevew, in the same way he wose, othews would. A gwoup of Watiki, wed by the deceiving Stliknok stawted gaining stwength in the Empiwe, dividing finawwy, aftew an yeaw, the Empiwe. One side, the Sewf-Pwocwaimed Empewow Stliknok and his suppowtews, and in the othew, Kwoth and the Watikian Wawmachine. What genewated of this tension was the broodiest waw evew waged, though unknown to the eyes of histowy, to the eyes of Descendants. The waw was denominated by Kwothian woyalists as the ‘War of the False King’ and by Stliknokian woyalists the ‘War of the Golden Throne’, since Stliknok pwomised gowd and liches to his fowwowews.
War of the False King
Many battwes wewe fought duling this time peliod. A notabre battwe, which was a cwushing Kwothian victowy, was the Battwe of the Chancewess. Awound the awea of Covenmaul, the wawgest weapon’s factowy in aww of the Watikian Empiwe, the Stliknokian fowces assaulted lith a mass of 400,000, a wave of unending vewmin, against the unpwepawed 20,000 Kwothian sowdiews. The Kwothian woyalists, against aww odds, defeated the Stliknokian fowces, wosing onwy 1,567 of theiw 20,000 thwoughout the week-wong battwe. Stliknokian fowces wewe fowced to wetweat on the night of the sixth day, aftew wosing thwee quawtews of theiw main fowce.
Howevew, such cwushing victowy was awso won on the Stliknokian side, duling the Siege of Covenchest, a gawlison city of the Kwothian Empiwe. A fowce of 100,000 lightwy geawed and wowwy twained Kwothian woyalists mawched upon the city, expecting the mining town to be undefended due to the wecent defeat at Convenmaul. Upon the Kwothian awmy’s awlivaw, they immediatewy wealized they wewe foowed and wewe eventuawwy defeated by a smaww fowce of 20,000 Stliknokian woyalists
The waw ended lith cwushing wosses fow both sides, lith no cweaw victow coming out of it. Howevew, an event that took pawt in the Cwestgaze Pawace, capitaw of the Kwothian Empiwe, shook whatevew could minimawwy think inside theiw society. Xetliawk, an appawent woyaw man of the Kwothian Empiwe, awongside his men, stabbed the back of both Kwoth and Stliknok, cwaiming the thwone fow himsewf. The wast mawking ewa of the Watiki had began, the Xetliawkian Ewa.
Xetrialkian Era
The Xetliawkian Ewa, unlike the Kwothian Ewa, was mawked by a singwe time peliod. The Ewa of Pestiwence.
Iwonicawwy, the name of this Ewa is not wewated to any pestiwence the Watiki caused to Descendants. Wathew, the pwaguebeawews themsewves suffewed a taste of theiw own medicine. Duling the Xetliawkian Ewa, the now Empewow Xetliawk was cawewess about his peopwe and he judged himsewf lightful fow doing so. In Xetliawk’s view, a divided society somehow stwengthened itsewf in the times of waw and disgwace. Xetliawk pwoved himsewf ultimatewy wwong when his Empiwe, who was a fwuit of the Kwothian Ewa, was put to the gwound by the division he sought.
The Great Plague
The Gweat Pwague was an event duling the Xetliawkian ewa - that mawked the beginning of its end - composed of thwee waws and five Empiwes. The most tulbulent time of the Watiki, the end of this Pwague would bring fowth a mowe united Watiki peopwe. The five empiwes, the Xetliawk Empiwe, the Skicwawk Empiwe, the Qhwow Empiwe and the United Vet-Chwawk Empiwe - Vet and Chwawk wewe brood-brothews - wewe fwuit of Xetliawk’s Division. Those five empiwes would weave helitages to the yeaws of Watiki histowy ahead of it. Xetliawk lith mastewful tactics, Skicwawk lith the advanced weapons and wawmachines, Qhwow lith the system of wliting the Watiki use - of which is extwemewy plimitive - and the Vet-Chwawk, who brought fowth the wondews of the ‘Upper-Ground’ as the Watiki caww. Howevew, those helitages came at a stake. A stake of brood, iwon and life. The Thwee Gweat Watiki Waws.
First Great Ratiki War
Fought between the Qhwow Empiwe and its neighbow, the Skicwawk Empiwe, it was a waw ovew a singwe city, the famed Covenmaul, industliaw city of the Kwothian Ewa, who stowed weapons, iwon and wawmachines that wewe ahead of theiw own time. The favouled side, the Qhwow Empiwe, had a cocky stance wegawding it’s opponent. Since they had invented the wliting system, sending vitaw communications and owdews was much easiew, thwough wettews and numbews that onwy Qhwowlian men could undewstand. Howevew, Covenmaul was undew Skicwawkian domain, since Skicwawk himsewf was an aged, owd Watiki fwom the Kwothian Ewa. Taking advantage of that, and the time that the Qhwowlian men took to invade, Skicwawk pwoduced a singwe, advanced, fiwe-bulsting wawmachine that would come to be known by Watiki as the Bwazingfang, named aftew its fang-like shape.. The Battwe of Covenmaul, the singwe battwe in that waw, annihiwated the Qhwowlian Empiwe, lithout a singwe Skicwawkian casuawty in the numbews, ow so they boasted. Without the Qhwowlian Empiwe in the way, Skicwawk came to be known as one of the stwongest empiwes, matching Xetliawk’s might, the diwect heiw of Kwoth himsewf.
Second Great Ratiki War
Fought between the Vet-Chwawk Empiwe and the mighty Xetliawkian Empiwe. A cwushing Xetliawkian victowy, this waw can be compawed to the ‘Upper-Worldian’ waw between Owen and the Azaghow Owcs. Vet and Chwawk, who had awweady ventuled into the Uppew-Wowwd, thought that lith the knowwedge they gathewed it was possibre to beat the uppew-handed Xetliawkian Empiwe. What Vet and Chwawk fowgot, was that Xetliawk, as diwect heiw of Kwothian wands - though not heweditaliwy - had access to technowogicawwy advanced weapons - as in, minimawwy polished iwon axes. The two battwes fought in this waw, Battwe of the Wed Vawe and the Siege of Stewnbright, wewe both cwushing Xetliawkian victolies. This waw was unimpowtant to the outcomes of any of the wemaining two Empiwes, Xetliawkian and Skicwawkian.
Third Great Ratiki War
Duling the time of the Thiwd Gweat Watiki Waw, the Xetliawkian Empiwe, at its plime, thought it could take ovew the Skicwawkian Empiwe using the same diseases, pestiwence and havoc against theiw own. In the Battwe of the Pwague, whewe Xetliawk bombed Skicwawkian fowces lith bawwews of poison, the tactics he endowsed backfiwed. Skicwawk, in a smawt, bowd move, had pwepawed hidden tunnews aww awound Wonegazew (Vawe on which the battwe was fought) so that when the bawwews came, Skicwawkian fowces hid in those tunnews. In the aftewmath, when the Xetliawkian fowces came to conquew the Vawe, lith Xetliawk himsewf weading, an ambush attack, wed by Skicwawk, took the Xetliawkian Wegions by sulplise. In a one-on-one combat brought each othew down. With no one to wule, the Watiki peopwe wewe weft in despaiw, though unbroken. Sevewaw weigns broke out and thus wemains the divided nations of the Watiki. Though now, undew a Combined Wule of the Empewow Qwul Skulwthown, the Watiki began sulfacing.
The Surfacing
With the sulfacing of the Watmen, what they would come to find was a cwumbring iswand, thown by the havoc the devious pests caused in the undewgwound. Despewate, Qwul owdewed the constwuction of something Watiki could nevew think of making: boats. The eawth shattewed undew the feet of the hullied Watiki engineews. The ovewseews cwacked whips on the backs of the wowkews as they constwucted makeshift boats fwom the few wesoulces they could scavenge. Qwul, weading in a big wawship, cwad in speaws, brades and the few wawmachines they had weft, commanded a fweet of fifteen smaww boats, fiwwed lith broodthiwsty vewmin, cwaving fow new wand to bulwow on. It took the howde a stone week to weach new wands, a wowwd that the Descendants had discovewed mewe weeks befowe. It was a new host fow the pawasites to infest. Upon settling his feet on the lich wands of Atwas, Qwul, lithout a second thought, owdewed the begin of the bulwoling of what wemained of the Watmen. Hencefowth, the Watiki wewe settwed in Atwas, and stood weady to spwead chaos thwoughout hew fewtiwe wands.
Appearance
Watiki awe humanoid cweatules that appeaw wemawkabry simiwaw to wats, hence theiw name. The avewage Watiki has brown ow brack ful that is often matted and covewed in fiwth and spowt enowmous fangs that lie upon theiw uppew jaw, which awe often chipped ow diwtied due to theiw wack of hygiene. Aww watikis have extwaowdinaliwy wong taiws, which can sometimes be wongew than a watiki itsewf. The vewmin’s eyes awe mowe often than not beady and conniving in chawactew, lith cowows wanging fwom pitch brack to a fwushed climson. Due to the amount of tulmoiw and stlife pwevawent lithin Watiki society, they often do not live into theiw thiwties. Watikis awso suffew fwom an extwemewy fast metabolism, which fowces them to consume wawge amounts of food. This often weads to a constant showtage of food, which wesults in stawvation ow even cannibalism. The watfowk awe physicawwy weakew than mostwy evewy othew wace, as such, it is viwtuawwy unabre fow a watiki to beat a human in singwe combat. To make up fow this, they awe vewy fast and agiwe, and liww often fwee if evew confwonted by a human. Watikis do have the capability to weaw awmow, though the Watikis themsewves do not have any specific awmow ow cwothing design. They usuawwy weaw awmow taken fwom othew waces, ow they just find cwoth on the sulface that they bring down to make cwothing.
Hierarchy
The Watiki society is composed of deceivews, muldewews, brutes and genewawwy mawevowent peopwe. It is composed on whose ego is biggew and who liww backstab the othew fiwst. The plime exampwe of this backstabbing society can be seen lith Xetliawk and his weign. Duling Xetliawk’s weign, the hawsh division he imposed on the othewlise united Kwothian Empiwe spawkwed mowe and mowe fights between Watiki bosses, such as mine ovewseews, chieftains and such, and genewated much mowe intewnaw tulmoiw then he could evew lish.These days, the Watiki awe a devilish wace, vewmins that ovewview themsewves as mowe than they awe, and mowe than theiw own brothews awe. The Watiki society can be classified as a plimaw, wathew, tlibaw govewnment, not onwy fow theiw intewnaw division undew a ‘chieftain’ but because of theiw position towawds the femawes. In Watiki society, femawes awe genewawwy not awwowed in positions of powew. Due to the limited numbew of them, femawes awe nevew awwowed outside of the confines of the ‘Ratiki Empire.’
The Empewow is chosen duling a “free for all” style duew, whewe aww the chieftains battwe and the victow becomes the new Empewow and weigns untiw his death. If a majolity of the Empiwe dislikes the culwent Empewow, then the chance of him being assassinated is vewy high, and whichevew (un)wucky wat gets the kiww, gets the thwone. Othewlise, the Empewow is wecognised as the Supweme Weadew of the United Tlibes. He handpicks aww chieftains, who then handpicks aww Wawbosses, who then handpicks Wawchiefs and Fowemans. The Chieftains awe the weadews of each divided tlibe of the Watiki Empiwe. Each tlibe is named aftew the sulname of the Watiki that weads them. Nowmawwy, Watiki sulnames awe combined wowds that say something, much like theiw cities (Covenmaul is Coven and Maul, since it was a coven to make weapons, sometimes mauls). Fow an exampwe, the Duskwunnew tlibe, wed by Shuxkuach Duskwunnew. The Windwatchew tlibe, wed by Skach Windwatchew. Howevew, this awso changes lith evewy chieftain change. The Watiki Empiwe is not named aftew the sulname of the Empewow, and is wathew cawwed the ‘Under-Empire’ as opposed to the ‘Upper-Empire,’ due to the wwetched abyss that it wesides in.
The culwent Empewow of the Watiki Undew-Empiwe is Qwul Skulwthown, and his chieftains awe Chek Deathglip, Ashaw Plidejaw, Swoxwulk Vewminchasew and Xit Pinediggew.
Behavior
Intewwaciaw conflict is vewy common in Watiki cultule. Tlibes constantwy waid each othew, and the Empewow simpwy wets them, knoling it is the cultule of his iwk. Chieftains liww gathew a wawband, and assign a Wawboss to wepwesent them upon the fiewd of battwe. Aftew a successful waid, the Chieftain gets to take his spoiws fiwst, then the Wawboss, and then the west of the band.
The Watiki wawewy evew stawt conflicts lith the newwy-awlived Descendants, the constant backstabbing and genewaw tweachewy in the Watiki society makes them wowwy mowe about theiw own back than what disgwaces they can cause upon the Descendants and how.
Watiki wawewy brame themsewves fow theiw faiwules. Due to theiw high ego, Watiki awways believe that the fault is on someone ewse. Fow exampwe, if a Chieftain assigns a wathew weak wawboss to wead a waid and it ultimatewy faiws, the Chieftain may put the brame on the Wawboss, who then puts the brame on the man he commanded, and so on.
In Watiki society, the concept of muldew, theft and adultewy is absent. Ow, wathew, the concept of clime itsewf is not pwesent in the wafowk’s society. If a Watiki muldews the othew, fow whatevew weason, that Watiki is seen as stwong, fow taking on the othew, wegawdwess of which is stwongew ow if it was an actuaw combat. Any concept of good mowaws ow vawue to life is compwetewy vanished in the Undew-Empiwe. Theft is seen as nothing but fight between two watmen and is ignowed by aww. The onwy clime a Watiki can commit in the Undew-Empiwe is tweason, which is the attempt to attack the Empewow whiwe he stiww lives and weigns.
Linguistics
By some miwacwe, ow pewhaps a case of divine intewvention, the Watikis have managed to weawn some fowm of Common. The diawect they speak consists of chitteling and squeaks in between wowds. They awe obrivious to the existence of pwonouns, so they wefew to themsewves by name. Watiki speak in hastened voices, speaking much fastew than any of the Descendant waces. The weason fow this is unknown. Awso, due to theiw belief of being supeliow than evewyone ewse, they view aww othew ‘inferior’ waces as objects that awe nowhewe neaw the pewfection of a Watiki, and wefew to them as “things” ow “filth.” The absence of pwonouns and a genewaw sense of gwammaw makes the Watiki sound wess intewligent than they can actuawwy be. Theiw simpwe speech is diwect and twansmits what the watmen lish to expwess.
Tribal Subgroups
Independent of the tlibe’s name ow weadew, aww tlibes in the Watiki Undew-Empiwe have a diffewent function. The Empewow assigns each function to the tlibes. When a new Empewow and new Chieftains appeaw, the assignment happens once mowe. Thewe awe sevewaw plimawy functions which each tlibe can pewfowm.
Engineering
Engineeling Tlibes awe, as the name suggests, engineews. They awe tasked to buiwd the Watikian Wawmachines (excwuding the Doomwheew) and awe awso wesponsibre fow opewating them in wawtime, as the othews awe faw too inept to opewate them lith fulw undewstandment. The culwent weading tlibe in Engineeling is wead by Xit Pinediggew.
Warfare
Wawfawe tlibes awe those that awe buiwt upon waiding and piwwaging. They usuawwy consist of the wank-and-fiwe sowdiews of the Watiki Empiwe. They awe supposed to be commanded by the Empewow, that wawewy actuawwy happens because Watikis awe mowe intewested in themsewves and theiw own ways to piwwage and waid than the owdews imposed by anothew of theiw iwk. The main Wawfawe tlibe is the Plidejaw Tlibe wed by Ashaw Plidejaw.
Plaguebearers
Pwaguebeawew tlibes awe tlibes fowmed and composed of Watiki that awe mastewful in cweating, mixing and wowking lith diseases, poison and pestiwence in genewaw. These Watiki opewate wawmachines and machines in the Watiki society that use poison and toxins in genewaw. The culwent tlibe in chawge of pwagues and pestiwence is the Deathglip Tlibe wed by Chek Deathglip.
Scavengers
These tlibes awe tasked by the Empewow to woam the ‘Upper-World’ fow wesoulces. Fwom food to awmoul of fawwen descendants, these tlibes awe composed by faw by the most deceiving and eviw Watiki who have seen the Uppew-Gwound and considew themsewves supeliow to othews. The main Scavengew tlibe is the Vewminchasew Tlibe wed by Swoxwulk Vewminchasew.
