Aevos Coalition War

In the turbulent days of Stassion's liberation from the Aaunish rule, a defining moment unfolded. The clash with King Edmund II, though avoidable, forced Stassion and her vassals into action. Now, under the leadership of the valiant Prince of Stassion, a journey to restore chivalric virtues has begun—a tale of liberation, conflict, and the pursuit of noble traditions.

The Marchlands

In the heart of the Marchlands, the esteemed Prince of Stassion assumes the role of the Protector of the Marchlands, a revered figurehead and sovereign over the vast domains of the House of Stassion. Rather than an autocratic monarch, the Protector stands as the first among equals, akin to the central pillar in a grand cathedral, providing strength and support to the realm. This leadership role, intricately linked with the title 'Prince of Stassion,' is passed down to legitimate male heirs. In the absence of such heirs, the title gracefully transitions to the legitimate daughters of the Prince. To navigate the complexities of state affairs, the Prince delegates authority to the Dignitaries of the Lowlands, the core councilors of the Prince's privy council. The Dignitary of State, Sir Henri de Falstaff, holds the highest position, overseeing the governance of the Marchlands and acting as co-regent in the absence of the Prince. The High Steward and the Grand Lady, Sarrah Crowe and Mathilde Augusta Stassion respectively, play crucial roles in financial management and the oversight of the Aster Court. The Dignitary of the Interior, Sir Philip Tiberian Stassion, takes charge of matters pertaining to war, defense, and the security of the realm. This includes overseeing levies, maintaining peace, and protecting Fredericksburg. The Grand Knight, with supreme authority over the household retinue, and the Lord Inquisitor, responsible for internal security and justice, serve as key agents under the Dignitary of the Interior. Her Serene Highness, Ottavia of Pompourelia, Princess of Stassion, holds the title of Dignitary of Diplomacy, acting as the chief ambassador overseeing diplomatic affairs and international relations. The Marcher Envoys, yet to be appointed, will assist in fostering relations with foreign officials and representing the realm's interests. The Estates Assembly, born from the collective vision of individuals who pledged their swords to the Prince of Stassion, serves as a consultative body where discussions, debates, and grievances are heard. This assembly reflects a commitment to building a realm based on respect, compassion, and dedication to the common welfare, echoing the ideals that led to the establishment of the Marchlands.

Purpose of State

Why Stassion must live and endure.

While no perfect ruler, Frederick of Oren was one of the last few true knights to emerge from the final days of the Novellen Empire. As King of Oren, he attempted to build a country founded on the highest of chivalric virtues: honor, glory, martial prowess, and the pursuit of the quest. Kingdoms before and after his, shying from the destruction and violence of the Eastfleet War and the Almaris Coalition War, feared to embrace man’s inner spiritedness. War, when undertaken for edification of the human spirit, is no thing to avoid, for it creates the blossoming of a new generation and instills the values of character that only hardship can. The knight is the person who knows this best. While few can reach that station, enough so that they may be gifted the title of ‘Sir’ or ‘Dame’, a higher honor even than ‘Baron’ or ‘Count’, the hardy soul pursues it. The hunt, the sport, the battle, the game, all events that must be undertaken to prepare one’s life for what inevitably awaits. Characters of low cunning will taint this earth, but the true knight does not seek to rise above them. They seek to bring their ruin, by their own craft if necessary, and wrestle the evils from this world one sin at a time. A charlatan may not speak if he has his tongue removed, nor may a thief continue his craft if his fingers are taken. While most of the present states of Aevos try to fashion images of high ideals and lofty aspirations, they neglect that we are mortal men crafted from the mud of the earth. Honor ought to be afforded when the occasion allows it, and a good promise must always be kept, but those who break these codes of conduct are fools, if marginally less so than those who believe they can never be broken at all. Stassion shall not shy from reality. It shall not foster weakness. It shall not allow complacency in the lives of its subjects. It sees the world as it is, the ugly and the beautiful, and forcefully carves its own place while waiting for the knife behind its back.

Stassion Company

In the Principality of Stassion, the heartbeat of security resonates through the disciplined ranks of the standing army, a formidable force forged by those who seek to distinguish themselves in service to their Liege and Country. Comprising individuals driven by a fervent desire to stand out from their peers, this dedicated assembly is the bulwark that safeguards the realm from external threats. Within the military ranks, a spirit of loyalty and commitment permeates the air, as soldiers pledge themselves to the Prince of Stassion and the protection of their cherished homeland. Each member of the standing army views their service not merely as a duty, but as a sacred calling to ensure the safety and prosperity of their fellow Marcherfolk. The ethos of the Principality dictates that every Marcherfolk is, in essence, a soldier. Whether they wield a sword on the front lines or contribute to the collective defense through other means, the sense of unity and shared responsibility is ingrained in the fabric of society. This pervasive belief underscores the notion that the security of the realm is not solely entrusted to the standing army but is a collective effort, with every citizen contributing to the safeguarding of their beloved homeland. In the face of challenges, the standing army of the Prince of Stassion stands resolute, a testament to the unwavering commitment of individuals who have chosen the path of service, embodying the age-old adage that in Stassion, every Marcherfolk is a soldier in their own right.
