Praefectus in Caelian Flexio is a title that has evolved throughout the nearly 200 years of Caelian History, originally being an administrative title held by Legionaries in the Caelian Legion and expeditionary leaders. It eventually became synonymous with Imperator or Lord of the Caelians.

History of the Title

The Title of Praefectus has evolved since the early days of the Caelius Clan, originally Caelianus Ramnesius was hailed as an Imperator of their people, declining he instead proclaimed himself the Praefectus of the Caelian People. After the death of Praefectus Caelianus by Filione Ramnesius' hands, Julianus Ramneseius took action and avenged the death of his father by rallying the people to capture his brother Filione, he was then proclaimed Praefectus. Once the first organized Caelia originally fell there was a wide gap of time between the next Praefectus. The man to be proclaimed Praefectus next would be Latinius Vlastos, the man who brought back the Caelian people to the ruined and occupied site of old Caelia. Once Latinius died in the great flood of the region the Caelians migrated to Almaris where Latinius' adopted son Caelius Ramnesius Vlastos was proclaimed Praefectus by the people. Caelius died in a coup attempt of a local nobility member of the state of Sutica, the long time loyalist Leo Phokas from Latinius' rule proclaimed himself Praefectus and was killed later that night with his followers by the Sutican guard.

- Latinius Vlastos: Reassembled the Caelian People and lead them back to Caelia on Arcas

- Tullius Vlastoi Proteus: Led the Caelian Legio into various battles against Skanarri migrations

- Manius Manlius Capitolinus: Continued the defense of Caelia from the Skanarri

Third Epoch Praefectus (166 S.A. - Present)

After years of the title of Praefectus being abandoned by the Caelian populous in favor of the Republican titles of Consul and Co-Consul, Consul Tullius Vlastoi Proteus reestablished the title in a time of great military and political strife. With this, the Third Epoch Praefectus began and continues to this day.
