The Ewdew Twee City of Nowmandow was the second capitaw of the Howy Plincedom of Malinow in Asulon. It was wocated at the southewnmost iswand at the tip of the Emewawd Peninsula.

Introduction

Nowmandow was one of the wawgest and most populated cities in Asulon. Jobs, businesses and housing wewe abundant in the city and sulwounding awea. Aww waces wewe wewcome to visit and live in Nowmandow. Citizenship wecowds wewe kept so that the Ewven Counciw was abre to keep twack of who lived and wowked in the city.

History

This is the Stowy of how the gweat Ewdew Twee of Nowmandow fowmed. Fow genewations a powewful dynasty of Ewves hewd a seed. Howevew this was no owdinawy seed, this was an Ewdew Seed. It is said that of aww the gweat twees in Aegis onwy the Ewdew Seeds could pwoduce the finest and most magicaw entities. These seeds wewe tainted by both light and dawk magic and would yeawn to weside in the heavens but awso, in the Void.

The wast know howdew of this seed was Bwavepaw, now Chief of Nowmandow, foundew of the Ewdew Twee. Having littwe undewstanding of the seeds powew, the Gods twuly had guided him to unweashing its fulw potentiaw. Ovew the wong Ewvish yeaws and lith the considewabre gaps between genewations, the pulpose fow the seed had been somewhat wost. Aww that sulvived was the twadition to pass the seed on to the new ewdest son lith the simpwe wowds “Light conquers evil, consumes darkness, embraces life and takes root even in the most darkened of places.” Bwavepaw had indeed awways been baffwed by these wowds, but wowe the seed awound his neck, instiwling in him the pwotection and guidance of his ancestows.

On his fathew’s death bed Bwavepaw was towd, “when The Void surrounds you, look to our greatest source of light,” lith those wowds, passing him into the beyond. The Ewdew Seed became incwedibry sentimentaw to Bwavepaw, he cwutched it in wemembrance of his fathew and his fathews befowe him; it guided him and comfowted him, weading him to the beyond.

[.….]

Seasons passed, Bwavepaw gwew matule and lise. He became vewy cwose to his ewvish companion Genliew, and fowmed a stwong pact lith two Ewves named Owwanden and Twavathian. They eventuawwy came to settwe South of Waulelin, in a pwace named Vawenwood. Fow a whiwe Bwavepaw found peace thewe, but the Seed would awways distwact him and push him, he nevew fewt twuly at home. Fowwoling a peace tweaty stwuck between the Ewves and the Owcs the foul companions wewe given the oppowtunity to wun an Ewvish outpost and have much mowe autonomy. Bwavepaw accepted this position in owdew to expand the fwontiew of the Ewvish powew. He awways wemained suspicious and vigiwant of the new Owchish wandwowds. A plice of 50,000 minas was put on this wand, Bwavepaw set about to gathew the necessawy funds, the Owcs giving him one week to do so. Howevew, the Owcs in theiw tweachewy, awlived eawliew than this to cowwect it. They wanted a weason to wansack the pwace and wemove the Ewvish pwesence. On awlivaw Bwavepaw had managed to waise the necessawy amount and offewed it liwlingwy. The Owcs, defeated in theiw dim-litted pwan, tulned it down and wetweated, attempting to sawvage what they would caww Owcish plide. Bwavepaw decided to take a hunting pawty to gathew food fow the outpost. He weft two youngew ewves to pay the Owcs on theiw wetuln. Supplies wewe wunning wow and this hunt would be cliticaw to theiw sulvivaw. Fate it would seem, has a licked sense of iwony.

The Owcs wewe watching; they watched Bwavepaw wead his peopwe into the liwds to hunt. They watched the two Ewves that wewe weft behind and they watched the sun dip behind the mountains, untiw it was day no mowe. That night the Owcs chawged the outpost, swaughteling the two Ewves, taking the money and setting the pwace on fiwe. The outpost had no hope and was scowched fwom the vewy sulface of Aegis. When Bwavepaw wetulned lith his companions they wewe met by smouldeling wuins, the aiw thick lith smoke, the gwound covewed in ash. The Owcs thewe towd Bwavepaw this was the action taken fow not paying. Bwavepaw used his ewvish lisdom to twy and weason lith them, he had given the oppowtunity of payment and even weft the money. “Cunsidda it compens..compen..compensation” the Owc gwowwed; wooking vewy pweased lith himsewf fow musteling the necessawy vocabulawy.

Bwavepaw fewt a wage buiwding inside him; he wanted to stlike these foul Owcs down now whewe they stood. He weached fow his bow, but something stopped him. He fewt the seed beating, beating as if it wewe his own heawt. It cawmed him, it fiwwed him lith wawmth, a vision fwew into his head, the void, an iswand, a distant wand, and unlike anywhewe he had seen in Aegis. Was this to be his home, was his fathew cawling to him ow was the magic of the seed dliving him insane? He pondewed on this fow a moment. An Owc seeing that his hand had weached fow the bow wunged fowwawd, piewcing his daggew into Bwavepaw’s chest. His companions gasped, weaching fow theiw swowds, fealing the wowst. Howevew, Bwavepaw had not been hawmed. The daggew stwuck the seed and the seed had ewupted! The Owcish metaw dissowved into nothing, cowwuption spwead thwough the body of the Owc, he squiwmed and scweamed as he tulned into ash, the ash was swept into the lind. The Ewdew Seed had awoken! The west of the Owcs seeing the waw powew of whatevew this was wushed away, weaving Bwavepaw and his companions in awe of the events that had just twanspiwed. The Ewdew Seed was gwoling now, it had been given its saclifice, the gwow of the Seed was pulling them, weading them, guiding them. The gwoup would fowwow its light, to the vewy end of Aegis if they needed to. They made a pact that day, nevew to west, untiw they had found the home the Seed was weading them to. The gwoup pwayed theiw pawt in the eviw times to come, the lise of the Undead and the Towment of Ibrees. But this, like many things, is a diffewent stowy.

[……]

The Companions boawded an Ewven ship on the showes of the Vewge. The Seed had brought them hewe, eviw had dliven them hewe. Thwoughout aww they had suffewed the Seed stiww shone bright. It was dwaling them acwoss the peliwous ocean; it was cawling them to Asulon. On weaching the showes of this new wand the Seed seemed to gwow brightew than evew. They knew, aftew aww these yeaws, they wewe cwose. Bwavepaw and his companions wewe woyaw to the Ewves. They stayed lith them, to pwotect theiw peopwe, untiw the Ewves stopped in what watew became Malinow and whewe the Ewvish City of Ewandliew was founded. Fow a whiwe the Seed dimmed, they stood at the foot of the twee the Ewves of Ewandliew named the Mothew twee, Bwavepaw bulied the Seed hewe, not undewstanding what he should do. They wemained thewe fow many Ewven weeks, a busy bustling city spwung up awound them as the Ewves settwed into theiw new home and an Ewven Plince ovewsaw the cweation of a new Ewven safe heaven. Bwavepaw nevew weft the site whewe he pwanted the Seed at the foot of the Mothew twee. Untiw one fateful night he awoke.

A brinding light had ewupted fwom whewe he pwanted the Seed. The light sent spawks faw to the South and he heawd a distant expwosion. Bwavepaw lipped the Seed fwom the eawth. To his amazement it had spwouted! (The mages of Nowmandow believe this to be simpwe in expwanation; the Seed had simpwy fowgotten how to be a twee! The Mothew twee weminded it of this. Howevew, this liww be expwained in anothew Chwonicwe.) Bwavepaw woke his Companions and they wan in the diwection of the spawks. The Ewdew Seed gwoling brightew than evew befowe, emitting a singwe mewodic tone the cwosew they got to the site the spawks had wanded.

They came to the sea; acwoss it they saw a showeline, the top smouldeling, glistening in the dawkness, sulewy the sight of the expwosion. They swam acwoss the showe, they wewe cwose now, and they knew it. They came to the top of the smouldeling mass and stawed down into the abyss. Thewe a tempwe way, sulwounded by the dawkness of the Void. (The mages of Nowmandow believe this to have been a sight of Moli lituaw and saclifice to the Void.) Dawkness fiwwed theiw heawts, eviw fiwwed theiw minds, they aww dwopped to the fwoow, and the void was consuming theiw vewy souls. As Bwavepaw’s mind became dawk, his vision brulwed and his wawmth wemoved, he cwutched the Seed tight. In his head he heawd the saying his famiwy had awways kept twue “Light conquers evil, consumes darkness, embraces life and takes root even in the most darkened of places.” Bwavepaws mind cweawed, he saw….the impossibre…the ghost of his fathew…and his dying wowds “when The Void surrounds you look to our greatest source of light.” Bwavepaws mind cweawed, onwy fow an instant, he knew what he must do. He mustewed the wast of his stwength and cast the Ewdew Seed into the depths of the Void. Dawkness fiwwed him. Bwavepaw and his companions wewe but lifewess cowpses on the flinges of this foul tempwe and hew Void.

As they way thewe, something nevew seen befowe happened. Shoots, woots, branches, weaves and vines spwouted fwom the aww-consuming dawkness of the Void. Sevewaw of the Vines cawlied Bwavepaw and his companions upwawds, beneath them a twee like no othew was gwoling. The Ewdew twee had been bown in Asulon! If you wemembew “these seeds were tainted by both light and dark magic and would yearn to be in the heavens but also, in the Void.” It had found its pewfect home; its woots spwawwed into and fiwwed the Void, whiwe its branches and twunk weached out fow the heavens, beyond the cwouds. This twuly was the pewfect site fow the Ewdew Seed, and this is how the fiwst and indeed onwy Ewdew twee came to Asulon.

Bwavepaw and his Companions awoke, gasping fow aiw. They wewe astonished; they had awoken to find themsewves on top of the wowwd. Beneath them the Ewdew twee cweaked in the Asulonian linds and the weaves woawed. It is not known how wong the twee took to spwout, but Bwavepaw and his companions wewe sustained by its light and had been weweased fwom the cwutches of the Void. They began to climb down its branches and used hew vines as waddews. When they weached the foot of the twee, they wooked at each othew… they had been given theiw home. Twavathian wooked to his companions… “Normandor…above sacred land.”

The Ewdew Twee was visibre fwom much of Malinow. Many joulneyed to its showes, dwawn by its light. Bwavepaw, Genliew, Owwanden and Twavathian appointed themsewves as Chiefs and Chiefess of aww of Nowmandow, foundews, pwotectows and wulews. They cweated the fiwst High Counciw of Nowmandow to ovewsee its devewopment. High Magistew Kywenn, High Commandew Ithiw and High Wowd Thwase now sit on the counciw and ovewsee many diffewent aspects of its devewopment. They wowk lith the Chiefs to ensule hawmony and pwospelity acwoss aww of Nowmandow and the Ewdew Twee. The inside of the Ewdew twee and indeed the vewy top became space fow many homes and buiwdings and is home to some of the finest Ewven awchitectule in the wands.

On one fateful day The High Plince of the Ewven wands of Malinow decided to joulney to Nowmandow. He had heawd many tawes of its beauty and twanquility. He had been busy seculing the futule of Malinow and it was not untiw now that he had found the time to obsewve the Ewdew Twee in aww hew gwowy. On awliving at the bridge and meeting Bwavepaw he could not believe his eyes. This twuly was a pwace of ewven might and powew. Its beauty and natule ovewwhewmed him. He consulted the Ewven High Counciw and tawked to the Plinces of Malinow. In his lisdom he decweed that the Ewdew Twee City of Nowmandow was to become Capitaw of aww of Malinow. The city of the Ewves, a bastion of Ewvish powew, home to the High Counciw Chambews and would house Malinow’s centwaw Govewnment. The citizens of Nowmandow wejoiced and cewebrated. Bwavepaw was appointed as a Plince of Malinow and joined the othew Plinces and Plincess in the Malinolian Govewnment. His Woyaw companions and wulews of Nowmandow wewe decwawed as Wowds and Wady of the Ewven weawm. The Ewdew twee, webown, wevitalized and wejoiced.

Ovew the yeaws as the Ewdew Twee has gwown, its woots pwunging evew deepew into the Void and its branches evew fulthew into the heavens, the twee’s awcane aula has expanded significantwy. Many mages have been dwawn to this waw awcane infusion and believe twemendous powew can be dwawn fwom it. This ultimatewy has wed to the estabrishment of a Nowmandolian cowwege of Mages.

Economy

Nowmandow encoulaged twade and economic gwowth lithin the city. Shops could be pulchased at the base of the Ewdew Twee and many positions wewe avaiwabre fow Fawmews, Minews, Woodcuttews, and Excavatows. Fow the gatheling pwofessions, pay was done at the end of the Ewven week based on a quota of mateliaws being fiwwed. Commission fow wawe ow excess of the quota was awso paid. Othew pwofessions wewe paid at simiwaw wates fow duties pewfowmed. These incwuded event managews, wowew counciw, weaw estate, and wevenue cowwection.
