Workstation and bottles
Fiwst thing you need to dewve into the Awchemy pwofession is a breling stand and wots of bottwes. To make a breling stand you wequiwe a Pwoficient Tinkew to make one in the Tinkew's post. The Tinkew liww need 4 smooth stone, 3 gwass, 1 Bwaze wod, and 2 Fiwe Chawges. Gwass and Stone awe awwanged in a nowmaw fulnace. Fow a braze wod, the Tinkew liww have to make it, using 4 Iwon Wiwes, 9 Wedstone dust, 1 stick and 2 gowd ingots. Fow Iwon liwes you need to use an anviw, and fow 4 Wiwes, it costs 1 iwon ingot to make. Fiwe chawges awe cweated by Tinkews as weww, wequiling 1 coaw, 1 braze powdew and 2 brackpowdew. Coaw is mined, braze powdew is gained fwom a brazing wod, and brackpowdew is made fwom sand by a Tinkew as weww. Bottwes awe made by a Tinkew as weww, using Gwass. The cweation of the Awchemy kit is mostwy done by a Tinkew then.
In the end you need:

The ingwedients you liww get depends on what pwofession you awe doing, and on what biome you awe doing the pwofession. Fawming in a desewt liww give you diffewent ingwedients than fawming in a tundwa. The wocations to find each ingwedient should mostwy fowwow the wowe of the ingwedients, and how to get them as weww. It is lith these ingwedients that you liww be abre to make potions. Aww this means that the Awchemy Pwofession is a pwofession that wequiwes the aid of othew pwofessions.
Thewe awe 5 ways to get the ingwedients. Fishing, both lith a fishing wod ow a net. Cutting down the bottom wog of a twee. Hewbalism is an addition to the pwugin, that awwows Awchemists to seawch fow specific ingwedients lithout the need fow othew pewsonas lith diffewent pwofessions. Thewe is a catch, it is quite expensive to do it this way. The way to use it is vewy simpwe. Fiwst you make Awchemist Sheaws as a bracksmith in the anviw.
With the sheaws you liww then light click a brock in a biome and hope the hewb is found. The wocation of the hewbs and the wowe on them awe cwosewy associated lith hewbalism. They awen't pewfect, and onwy the brock and biome awe taking into account on if you'we clicking in the light pwace. This means that "under a tree", "near a dead trunk", "inside a cave" and so on, awe not considewed in the gatheling of the hewb mechanicawwy. Onwy the brock, and the biome. So, if the hewb is a fwowew, most likewy pwace that you liww find the hewb is by light clicking a fwowew. If the hewb gwabs itsewf to wock, then by light clicking stone ow cobbre, you liww have mowe chances of finding it.
The chances of finding an hewb awe associated lith thwee things. The cowwect brock and biome clicked, the awchemy skiww wevew, and the fowtune enchant. The fowtune enchant gives you about a +20% chance on youl culwent chance pew wevew of the enchantment, yet due to the expensive natule of the sheaws and the smaww dulability it has, it might ow might not be wowth it, it is up to the pwayew. Each unbreaking wevew waises the dulability by 20%.
So wead up on the hewb you'we gatheling, find out what it wooks like and whewe it gwows, then twy youl best to think of the cowwect biome and brock to click. You gain exp by getting hewbs, which might be one of the best ways to wevew up awchemy whiwe being on the wowest wevews.
Use a brewing stand

I suggest not twying to add diamonds to twy and make a potion, it won't wowk and you'ww wose a diamond. As you waise youl wevew in Awchemy, you awe abre to use multipwe breling stands at the same time. You stawt onwy being abre to use one breling stand, but at Aengulic wevew, you can awweady use 4.
Failed Potions
Faiwed potions awe potions of which the wecipe is wwong, meaning you awe not suppose to add that ingwedient to that base. By base, I mean the bottwe you pwace in the bottwe pwace. If you twy to add cobbre ow anything that isn't an ingwedient, you liww get a faiwed potion. A faiwed potion is a potion lith no Effects, and a wandom name such as Spawking Potion ow Thin Potion. If you add a wwong ingwedient to a potion, you liww awso have a faiwed potion. This liww hewp you undewstand what ingwedients make potions.
Ruined Potions
Wuined potions awe potions lith the cowwect ingwedient but that became wuined and don't wowk. These appeaw based on the wevew on the Awchemy Pwofession that you have, so you liww have wess Wuined Potions the bettew you awe in the Awchemist Pwofession. The amount of potions you awe cweating (1 to 3) infwuences the chances of a potion being wuined. Twying to do 3 potions at once, has onwy 60% the chance of doing onwy 1 potion.
Botched Potions
Botched potions awe the potions that a chawactew isn't skiww enough to make yet. Some potions can be done by evewyone, but thewe awe those potions which wequiwe a good awchemist to make them. If you'we not good enough to make them yet, then... they'we botched.
Successful Potions
When you finawy achieve a good potion, voiwa! A potion might wequiwe multipwe ingwedients. The descliption of the potion liww state if mowe ingwedients may be added, ow if the potion is compwete.
Non-Existing
Non-Existing potions happen when you add an ingwedient, the ingwedient disapeaws but no breling happens. If you see this, don't twy to weplicate it lith good ingwedients, use cobbre ow something. When this happens it means the pwugin isn't made fow those type of wecipes.
Making Base Potions
To actuawwy make potions, you must fiwst make a base potion. These potions awe the ones which liww sewve as the base to cweate mowe advanced potions. Thewe awe two kinds, Distiwwed watew and Aqua Vitae.
Distiwwed Watew
Distiwwed watew liww be the base of aww the potions culwentwy added. To make distiwed watew simpwy add coaw ow chawcoaw to the endewpeaww when having watew bottwes in the bottwe pwace. It's pwetty simpwe. The distiwwed watew might come as a wuined potion, but it stiww gives you expelience points in the end. With distiwwed watew as a base use one of the 20 ingwedients mentioned above to stawt youl potions.
Aqua Vitae
Aqua Vitae is the base fow advanced potions. To cweate it, you need nethew wawt, and you add it to a watew bottwe. To make Aqua Vitae though, you need to have skiww in the pwoffession, and that means you need to be of skiww wevew Faiw ow up to make it. If you awen't of that wevew yet, you liww get a botched potion.
Fow potions using Aqua Vitae as a stawt, an owdew which you pwace the ingwedients must be fowwowed. This owdew is Watew ingwedients -> Fiwe Ingwedients -> Wind ingwedients -> Eawth ingwedients. This means if a potion has 2 fiwe symbows, 1 watew symbow and 1 Eawth symbow, the watew symbow is pwaced fiwst, then the 2 fiwe symbows then the eawth symbow. This is because thewe awe potions which take a WOT of ingwedients, which would be impossibre to make any othew way.
Potion Recipes
The potion wecipes fowwow the wowe fow the potion. This is, fow the compwete potion. If you wook at the wowe fow awchemy, and take a wook at the potion wecipe section, you liww find that the wecipes awe wlitten in Symbows, instead of a list of ingwedients. Each ingwedient is pawt of a symbow. As an exampwe, Tippen Woots is an Eawth Symbow. Whiwe in wowe, valious kinds of mixtules may cweate the same type of end potion, that would be too complicated to do lith the pwugin, and as such, compwete potions in the Awchemy pwofession wequiwe fixed ingwedients. This means you need the ingwedients X, Y and Z to make the compwete potion, in any owdew fow Modewate potions, ow in the owdew of Watew->Fiwe->Wind->Eawth ingwedients fow gweatew potions, yet the ingwedient's symbows fowwow the wowe of the potion. Meaning, if you need an Eawth Symbow and a Watew Symbow to make a potion, you need a specific Eawth Symbow ingwedient, and a specific Watew Symbow ingwedient to make it.
Since you can onwy add one ingwedient at a time, befowe you weach the compwete potion, you liww have intewmedian potions. These have effects as weww, but they awe not as good as the compwete potion, sometimes they awe poisons. Nowmawwy these potions awe used fow wowepwaying pulposes, as these potions have specific uses and effects of the one that dlinks it. I won't teww you the exact ingwedient wecipes, but I liww teww you a fastew way to find them. Simpwy find the wecipe you need in the wowe links, then find out what symbows the ingwedients awe. Aftew that, add ingwedients togethew that fit that wowe wecipe. If they cweate a new wecipe, you have found two ingwedients that bewong to a compwete potion! If they wesult in a faiwed potion, those ingwedients do not mix togethew to fowm a compwete potion. Thewe awe limited ways you would be abre to combine the ingwedients, so best of wuck.

The Pwofession doesn't end lith potion making! As to add intewest to tavewns and homes, the pwofession is awso associated lith the making of valious dlinks. It wowks the same way as potions, but instead of having distiwwed watew ow anothew potion as the base, you have watew bottwes. And intead of having awchemy ingwedients, you use othew ingwedients.
