Karin (Crystalline Kitten) Karin Karin, also known as crystalline kittens, are creatures usually found in crystal filled caves, but they can be found in the wilds searching for Atgaard, which helps them digest meat and increases the amount of sodium and calcium in their diet. Karins are omnivores, but mainly eat meat. However, if they cannot find any Atgaard, they are forced to eat plants, which reduces their chance of survival in the winter. Usual life expectancy is about 30 to 60 years, making them perfect long lasting friends and pets.

Karins are crystal covered felines about the size of a cougar, usually weighting about 90 kilograms. Karin’s distinguished look is possible due to eating a crystal flower know as Atgaard. Usually a creature consuming Atgaard would quickly turn into a crystal statue, but Karin somehow adapted to the flower, still turning their fur into crystal, while not turning into a statue. The reasons behind that are not known, but the same reaction also happens with another species, Wryssa, also known as the crystal deer. While crystals look astonishing on the creatures, removing them renders them useless. Karin's before ingesting atgaard look like pale cats with deer-like horn protecting their necks.

Predators mainly avoid karins, due to it’s hard fur and weird taste, since karin’s diet consists of high dose of sodium. It is important to say that karins grow horns of extreme hardness, but only for protection of their weak and sensitive neck. A person of small stature and weigh is even possible to ride these creatures. But in our realm, only possible riders are halfling. Any other rider would break karin’s legs.

Karin

Behaviour Karin’s are usually friendly beings of extreme loyalty. Even though it mainly feasts on meat, it will rarely attack a human, dwarf, elf, orc or an halfling. They are playful, but due to the sharpness of their claws, they can sometimes hurt their owner. Karin’s have a special ability to sense to feel disturbance in the owners feeling. They usually try to help by curling next to them in a defensive maner. If the owner is badly hurt, karin will do anything she can to keep him safe, even becoming enraged, attacking anything that comes near his owner.
