The Karamanoğullari, also referred to as the Sons of Karaman, are the presumed descendants and successors to the now derelict Subudai tribe, which splintered due to excessive drought within the Türkin Steppes. They are primarily a nomadic peoples that operate as a gerontological society, in which the eldest of the tribe is classified as the "Bey". They rose to general significance in 1743 after they had formalized under the first Bey Başil Karamanoğlu: the eldest son of their ancestor that had unified the Karamanoğullari, Timur Karamanoğlu.

Entry into Arcas

The Karamanoğullari originally crossed the vast plains of the Korvassa desert, first reaching the Sheikhdom of Al-Faiz around 1742. It was the conclusion of what is known as The Great Trek, in which they fled the drought-struck Türkin steppes which was coping with an ongoing famine and rampant internal conflict. They had appealed to the brothers Al-Nabeel, who stood before the closed gate, to trust them and let them in. With Oğuz Karamanoğlu stating: "Arkadaş, we are hungry with no more bread in our satchels and no water in our flasks. We ask for your benevolence to feed us and let us rest, for we have traveled months seeking refuge. We will humbly and generously repay you for your hospitality."

After they were led in by the brothers Al-Nabeel: they enjoyed a warm welcome and general hospitable treatment[1] within the Sheikhdom, establishing a grateful and warm relationship between the two peoples to this day. From the Sheikhdom of Al-Faiz they charted more of Arcas, eventually reaching the Duchy of Adria, the Imperial Capital of Helena & the Kingdom of Curon respectively. It was the beginning of regular travels between most Human-populated realms, in which the Karamanoğullari actively participated in local customs and interaction in general.

The Adria Connection

The Karamanoğullari began to have regular correspondence with a claimant to the Duchy of Adria, simply known as "Dmitry Raspitora Barbanov", after the latter had expressed interest in purchasing several Karamani steeds. From this correspondence grew a friendship, where Dmitry would regularly invite his newfound friends to his diplomatic endeavors in Helena and Curon[2]. Although Dmitry would end up losing the election for the title of Duke of Adria to the incumbent Joseph Clement de Sarkozic, he would remain a crucial character for the relationships the Karamanoğullari had build with a variety of Orenian functionaries, statesmen and locals.

The Subudai Mandate

The Karamanoğullari consider themselves the rightful wielder of the former Subudai's 'Big Yurt': a philosophy in which a certain farfolk is shaped sufficiently benevolent and capable to unify the tribes and bring greater prosperity to them all. Despite the Karamanoğullari never coming close to realize this goal, it remains a significant cultural component that shapes the worldview of a Karamanoğlu.

The purity of this mandate, if it is even deemed legitimate, is up for discussion among the other Farfolk-related peoples of Arcas. The primary reason for this is the existence of the Konchak Federation: a fellow Türkin people that significantly mirrors the Karamanoğullari in speech and culture, but who reject the notion that they are the exclusive holders of this mandate or the Subudai culture in all its evolved forms.
