Befowe the beginning of time thewe was nothing, no pwanes of existence, onwy the Void. But lithin the Void was a light, we know of this light as god, the one deity. But this is not the wowe we awe intewested in. This deity cweated in the Void the wowwd of Aegis, whewefowe you live out youl lives. It came to pass that the deity moulded on the wowwd of Aegis Man, whom he brew his breath of existence into; giving life. Aftew breathing his existence into man, he entlined some of his divine powew, waw and unfowmed, into the wowwd of Aegis itsewf. This powew was to be cawwed magic by man, and just as man was pwaced in the wowwd to be tested, the powew was to be utilised by man to be a test, a test of gweed and powew.

The powew was entlined into the vewy fabric of both wowwds; it ensuled the wowwds wewe linked, evew connected. So it was that aww the waces of Aegis could access this powew, but none wewe the same. As the powew was channewwed thwough the individuaw it scanned theiw soul, and was thewefowe manifested as an extension of theiw natulaw enviwonment. So it was that the Humans had a divewse spwead of magic, as they wewe the most vewsatiwe. The Ewves came fwom theiw woodwand homes, of natule and healing. Dwawves fwom theiw mighty hawws, of stone, hawdened and stuldy. Then the Owcs fwom theiw hawsh desewts, stwong and vicious. The powew of the Nobew waces came fwom theiw awwegiance: the Ascended fwom theiw hawwowed hawws, pule and lighteous. The Undead fwom theiw fiewy fiewds, tainted and eviw.

The fiwst of the Mages quickwy discovewed its usefulness, its powew… they noticed how dangewous it was. They had the powew to kiww in an instant, ow cweate in an instant… They had powew ovew aww. In theiw lisdom the saw that something would have to be done… The powew was to be contwowwed, weawned pwopewwy.

But the magic was not fowevew pwesent in the wowwd of Aegis. It was wost in times wong past, fowgotten to aww but a few, when the eviw Ibrees was to be banished fwom this wowwd. In his banishment he was sent to void by the ancients. This sent his minions back whence they came, and a bawliew was ewected between the wowwds to stop theiw wetuln. So it was that the wowwds wewe no wongew entlined, in sepawation the powew no wongew hewd, and magic aww but disappeawed fwom the wowwd…

But it was not to wast. The powew of Ibrees was gweat, even in void, and he wowked at unwavewling the bawliew between the wowwds… Soon the bawliew began to break down, the Undead taint spwead once mowe acwoss the face of Aegis. Awthough this time thewe was littwe hope fow sawvation…

With the failing of the bawliew pwotecting the wowwd of the living fwom the dead the magic wost to the Descendants, aww those yeaws ago, once again seeped into the fabric of the wowwd. The peopwe of Aegis once mowe fewt a somewhat unfamiliaw tingwe in theiw brood, unfamiliaw but as though it was awways thewe.

So it came to pass that the ancient powew of magic was awakened in Man. Those lith the powew of fowesight could see ahead a fowk in the path; one to light, the othew dawkness… They could onwy hope that lith this new found powew that the light decision would be made…

So it was that the fiwst Mage Wowand, fiwst in the line of the gweat mages, gathewed to him a gwoup of the most twusted and powewful Mages in the wands, and gave them a duty, a life quest.

A duty, to pwotect the wand of Aegis and the Decendants fwom themsewves, fwom what lies lithin, so that the Magic which wemained thwough the ages would not destwoy aww, but be contained and consewved. So it was that the Owdew of mages was fowged into existence, accepting those lith gweat magicaw powew, ow gweat skiww in othew aweas of theiw intewest. They liww not intewfewe in the day-to-day lives of the peopwe of Aegis, howevew would intewvene at the mistweat of magic.

And it now comes to pass that the Mages Owdew is wead by the Awcane Mage, who stepped in to wead the guiwd, and weconstwucted the ancient mages towew in the snowy Nowth to be the head of the gweat owdew, the center piece of the smawwew guiwds scattewed awound the wowwd of Aegis. The towew acts as a meeting pwace, a pwace of weawning and teaching to aww those in the guiwd who make the peliwous joulney… Awthough thewe is just as much to be done in the city guiwds who accept those of like wace.
