Lucien IV (Common: Lucien IV), born as Giovanni di Luca, was a Highlander and a Canonist Priest who was elevated to the Cardinalate in the latter years of the pontificate of Sixtus IV.

Early Life

Giovanni di Luca join the canonist church at the age of fifty five, during the reign of Sixtus IV as a deacon under the Bishop of Johannesburg. He spent many a long day preserving the pristine state of the Apostolic Palace and the Cathedral of Johannesburg in addition to his standard clerical duties. Through the permission of the High Pontiff and the Emperor himself, Giovanni worked to improve the palace security after two failed attempts on the High Pontiff's life by rebellious elvish assassins. Through his work, and ability to perform mass successfully and knowledge of scripture, Giovanni rose to the position of Priest with haste, and soon after to Cardinal with the stepping down of the Vice-Chancellor.

Later Life

Growing old in age, High Pontiff Sixtus IV announced he was to step down to live a life in recluse to the far north so he may spend his remaining days in constant prayer to GOD, and reading of the scriptures. And so a vote was held and Giovanni rose as the successor, achieving the votes of every cardinal. Shortly after his succession as Lucien IV, a new Holy Order (Holy Order of St. Otto) was founded for the additional protection of the church and her faithful. In the Third Golden Bull of Johannesburg, Lucien IV appointed a new cardinal to the position of Vice-Chancellor, and appointed priests to their parishes, finishing off Sixtus' ecclesiastical redistricting. He lifted the excommunication of Guy Owyn, and worked with the Imperial Family to expand the influence of the church. However Lucien's reign came to a short end with his assassination by radical anti-canonist dwarves, stabbing him in his own cathedral. His successor was the recently appointed Vice-Chancellor, taking on the name Everard III.
