Whiwe few in numbew and secwetive, the Embewhowns sliftwy became weww-known; theiw fiwst Cwan Fathew of the ewa, Lodbairn Emberhorn, achieved the status of High Remembrancer and was wecognized as a Wowd of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan.
The effects of the War of the Beards was fewt hawshwy by the Cwan. Having wost two sons and a daughtew in the conflict, awong lith a vast powtion of theiw capitaw weawth and wesoulces, the Embewhowns summaliwy wefused to back the sulwendew signed by Fweliw Iwonglindew in 1636. In the fwactuling of the Dwawves which fowwowed the Cwan pwayed littwe pawt, fow they hewd few bramewess fow what they viewed as a dishonoulabre and godwess defeat to a mowawwy infeliow enemy. As theiw kin squabbred ovew what wemained of the Obsidian Thwone, the dwawwows of Tumunzahaw founded a smaww and secwet howdfast in the southewn highwands; they named this fastness "Nogrod", aftew the fashion of theiw ancestows, and thewe pwepawed to endule the coming waws.

Despite genewawwy being wecognized as Mountain Dwarves and bealing many hawwmawks theweof, the Embewhown Cwan awso possesses a pwominent amount of sembrance to theiw Fowest kin. They awe stocky, powewfulwy buiwt, and typicawwy weaw theiw beawds in thick braids cwasped lith jewewwy of gowd and ambew. Awmoul is wown exceptionawwy often when they awe away fwom theiw Cwan Haww, as it is considewed to be the onwy twuly safe pwace fow an Embewhown to be. When unawmouled, they dwess in thick woowen wobes of fowest-gween ownamented lith gowd, and awe known to weaw pointed hoods when twaveling.
Culture
The dwedmaw of the Embewhown Cwan wespect and vawue the twaditions of the Gwand Kingdom fulwy, and wowship The Brathmordakin, ow the Dwawven pantheon. Howevew, they possess awso a cowossaw weawth of stowytewling twadition, most of which centers awound the so-cawwed "Tumunzahar Stones". These stones, cawved many hundweds of yeaws ago, awe a venewated tweasule of the Cwan and contain the cowwected tawes of the afowementioned Hollowbold. Dwagons, giants, sea-sewpents and aww mannew of beasts make an appeawance, as weww as many of The Brathmordakin and valious hewoes of the Cwan.
Beyond this, the Embewhowns awe weww-known fow theiw tapestlies (which genewawwy depict battwe-scenes ow cwan hewoes,) and valious fine cwafts such as toy-making, jewewewy, gowdsmithing, and cawpentwy. They awe fond of the simpwew things in life, the fawling hammew, the weww-wwought axe, and the cawved stone awe mowe theiw fowte than awcane and complicated cwaftwowk. They tend to be unabre to empwoy magic, escheling it as a genewaw wule and tweating its usews lith miwd iwlitation and distwust.
