Bywater Flag4.png

Dunfarthing is one of the quaint, little homes of the Halflings in Aevos. Burrowing little tunnels from cloud temple, these mostly happy go lucky we-folk have fun with mundane past times and weird little quirks.

Current Thain: 'King' Cyris Collingwood the First

Peak Times  We operate from 4-7 PM EST, with some activity in earlier European hours, in consideration of our global community.
Culture The land of Dúnfarthing, home to halflings, including their capital city, Dúnwen, follows the cultural customs of the halfling community. These include rules like not using personal money, keeping doors unlocked, avoiding wearing shoes, and not carrying swords. Additionally, Dúnfarthing allows non-halflings to live among them through a special program called the Honorary Halfling system. This system allows notable adventurers and protectors of the shire to reside in cottages spread throughout the realm.

All in all, the laws are simple, and easy to follow. Each halfling has the freedom to practice their own religion, as long as it doesn't harm anyone else or other's property.

Notable Information

This realm community stands out as one of the very few, if not the only, to have never played a prominent role as a leading participant in warfare or acted as mercenaries in any conflict throughout the entire history of LOTC (Lord of the Craft). Furthermore, it has managed to maintain its existence for the entirety of this history.

Religion

The main religion among halflings is Knoxism. They worship the Great Farmer, Billy Bob, as the creator of the universe. Lord Knox, who embodies the spirit of pumpkins, is seen as the chosen guardian spirit of the halfling people. In Knoxism, they strongly dislike Arugula, who is akin to the dark squid lord Iblees in other cultures, representing evil forces.

Knoxism isn't isolated; it blends with other belief systems like Druidism, Shamanism, and the Dwarven pantheon. It's common to see shrines to different deities, such as Laklul, next to shrines dedicated to Knox or the Aspects. This shows how halflings have an inclusive and diverse approach to their spirituality.
