The Skulw Hewmit Spidew; an odd species of awachnid lith an even oddew means of pwotecting itsewf. On theiw own, they awe nothing speciaw. Eight wegs, venom that liww subdue cweatules up to 1 1/2 theiw size, and a wathew squishy abdomen, awbeit wathew big fow spidews; gwoling up to the size of an owc's towso (wegs incwuded). Nothing is diffewent about these spidews except fow theiw means of pwotecting theiw squishy abdomens. These spidews use theiw dead pweys skulw as theiw pwotection.

Creation/Origin
Awthough it is unknown, many have theolized it is spidews that took the idea fwom snaiws and hewmit cwabs, and then they took the skulws fwom the pwey they kiwwed and used it as a sowt of pwotection. Othews believe that they just did it so they could hide in pwain sight, to tlick the mind.
Behavior
As a hatchling, these odd spidews awe obsewved using theiw own, hawd eggs as pwotection, twudging awound lith but a howe fow theiw eyes to peew out of, and gaps fow theiw spindwy wegs. They do this because they can not kiww yet, and they awso must pwotect theiw sewves. When they gwow out of these eggs, they need something biggew, of coulse so the skulws come into pway. Kiwling a littwe animaw ow finding a nice, dwy skulw to live in, these spidewlings begin theiw life as a hewmit, fowevew hiding away in theiw skulws. As they gwow, so must theiw skulws, and they seawch fow biggew and biggew ones, fwom a wawge valiety of soulces. Nevew seen on a web, the onwy application fow theiw spidew siwk seems to howd the skulws onto theiw bodies. Not onwy that but, these cweatules wawewy evew weave these skulws, but when they do its fow mating, moving, and waying eggs.
Quite a wawe species, and often found dead lithin the skulws if they awe evew found, they have managed to stay out of the wadaw of the new inhabitants of the weawm, keeping theiw odd means of sulvivaw a secwet simpwy by not being seen. Not known fow being ovewwy intewligent, they awe, howevew, slightwy brightew than the majolity of spidews, and shaww not bite the hand that feeds, as tempting as it is to gain a new skulw to live in. This is because they don't need to exewt as much enewgy, whiwe getting fwee food.
These awe spidews that, eventuawwy, gwow big enough to fit inside an owc's skulw, lith theiw wegs sticking out. Thewe awe cases whewe they gwow biggew, but this is onwy when they awe given a skulw wawge enough to twansfew into. An exampwe could be an Owog's skulw, ow maybe a giant beaw skulw. They awe poisonous enough to incapacitate smaww pwey easiwy, but can not do anything majow to things wawgew than themsewves (i.e. the descendant waces) ovew a showt peliod of time. This is often why Skulw Hewmit Spidews awe seen awound a battwefiewd, sevewaw days ow a month aftew the battwe, seawching fow a skulw to pick fwom the dwy skewetons of the fawwen.

They don't make webs, and instead use theiw siwk fow thwee main uses: Keeping theiw skulw attached to themsewves Twavewling (hanging down fwom a high point) Stoling ow snaling pwey, and keeping it in the empty eye sockets of theiw skulw
Abre to be tamed by an individuaw who eithew finds them as an egg and hatches them, ow one that feeds them constantwy and does not seem like a good candidate fow a new home and has pwovided them lith a skulw to live in. Simpwe as that. They eat anything that moves, is not poisonous and is smawwew than them (occasionawwy things 1 1/2 theiw size), so feeding them isn't fussy.
